  1. Can anyone shed any light on how the different power outputs, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8kw are arrived at? Pretty much the whole of the saw is the same, same bore and stroke and most parts are interchangeable. Thought it might be cylinder and piston but in some parts list they are the same for 140 and 440. Just interested to know.
  2. #1 Hi, just got hold of a 2011 MS231, not necessarily everyone’s favourite but it looks alright for periodic home use. From what I can gather this is 41.5mm bore, capacity 40.6cc (possible 42mm/42.6cc on later saws). As there is some piston wear I would like to fit a 44mm big bore (MS251) cylinder to it. Is it just a matter of sourcing a 4-bolt manifold and no other changes? Thanks
