  1. Thanks David - now I’ve shared the photos a few folk have said they they’ve seen it around this year. The only thing I’ve been able to find on it was Andy Overall’s article. I have it on pdf if anyone wants a copy. He suggests it’s not as rare as claimed. That’s an interesting range of species that you’ve seen it on - I’m assuming that they were veterans in parkland ? Presumably it occurs in woodland but is missed under the leaf litter.
  2. I’m not sure - I don’t think it is a cause of tree failure but the tree it was under had had Ganoderma brackets earlier
  3. It does look quite exotic. It’s usually found in association with the roots of oak and mainly in southern Britain which holds 80% of the European population .
  4. I found these today - really chuffed as I’ve never seen it before.
