A reputable supplier of trees will be able to provide a full audit trail on the tree, like a tree passport, to show its origins and how long it has been grown at any location. If a tree imported into the UK spends at least a year - all the growing seasons - on a UK nursery, any dormant or live tree pests and diseases can be eradicated before despatch into the UK landscape. A safety measure to protect the UK which should have been mandatory years ago.
