A joint event from LISW Branch and Arboricultural Association Cornwall Branch, looking at successfully delivering tree planting. About this event Trees are an integral component of urban spaces and wider landscape. A collaborative approach to the planning, design, planting and management of trees will ultimately provide the greatest social, environmental and economic benefits. The speakers today will highlight the important contribution of trees at both a strategic and local level, including the benefits of professional and community collaboration. This event looks at various aspects related to successful delivery of tree planting, for long-term success and resilience. We will cover aspects from strategic to local to technical considerations, with the success ultimately depending on successful cross-professional and private / public sector collaboration. Content will be relevant for all involved in the design and specification process for tree planting, including engineers, architects, landscape architects, arboricultural specialists, local authority officers and private developers. This event is run as a hybrid event with a virtual part from 10am-12.30pm and a site visit in Plymouth from 3-5pm. Please note - this booking is for the virtual morning session only. The site visit to Plymouth has to be booked separately, and is limited to 30 people - see separate EventBrite booking page. There is plenty to see; Arboretum, gorge habitat, Saint Margaret's Yew, Covenanters Oak, Old chapel site, the plantation Yews on rig and furrow, and of course the Clyde and RSPB nature reserve The excursion will be informal, dress appropriately for the weather and please feel free bring families. There is not an easy place to get lunch so please bring provisions. The tour will last approximately two hours leaving time for attendees to explore the site unguided at the end. It is great time of year to look for fungi. These events are put on by the branch to bring members together and there will be plenty of opportunity to socialise. No booking required. The session will feature experts from across the utility sector, as well as representatives from HSE and Network Rail, followed by a chance for you to put your questions to the speakers via the live Q&A. What is the UAG? The principal objective of the UAG is to make sure the standards of both tree work and safety within the industry are consistent nationwide.
