Its two main aims are to improve the quality of surveys undertaking and improving the safety of those involved with tree surveys for bats. Bats & Trees aims to encourage more ecologists and arborists to work together, sharing knowledge and experience. Trees are an essential part of the environment, providing a wide range of ecosystem services. Trees also provide food and shelter for wildlife. Cavities, splits and hollows, which were historically described as ‘defects’, are now known to provide habitat for numerous wildlife species. Among the wildlife species which use trees for shelter are bats, with 14 of the 17 UK bat species known to roost in trees. At the heart of the Strategic Plan is the Association's new vision: ‘Inspiring, supporting and promoting the tree care community for a society that better appreciates and cares for trees.’ You can view the plan in its entirety here: https://www.trees.org.uk/News-Blog/Latest-News/New-AA-Strategic-Plan Arboricultural professionals are, and will always be, at the heart of what we do, and a key part of our mission is to represent those working in all areas of professional arboriculture, at all stages of their career.
