  1. I can’t speak for the others, but my Hobbs has been a game changer. A bit more lifting capacity would be great, but it will lift small/medium branches and the pretension for bigger lumps makes a huge difference. Main plus is it’s super easy to explain to different ground staff, I’ve used mine with plenty of different groups, and within a few goes they’ve pretty well sussed it
  2. I swap between the 2 pretty regularly. Especially during takedowns, I find the faff of setting up a retrieval system for srt on a stem more hassle than swapping to ddrt and chucking a cambiam saver on. And for big/dieing trees when you can’t shoot straight for a tie in point and need to advance beyond your base anchor. I’m sure most devices would do both fairly well, but something with a swivel that is made for both and not just a compromise does look pretty appealing. I also think the older ZZ last a lot better, I had nearly 5 years from my old style one-newer style ones don’t seem to go much beyond 2. Although I’m using 11.5mm cougar blue predominantly so it’s the smaller end of the range.
  3. I would agree completely-my latest ZZ is 12 months old and starting to show signs of slippage, £600 for 10 years use doesn’t sound like awful value. Especially if it’s good for changing between ddrt and srt. I don’t like the clunky-ness of the RR when you change to double rope.
  4. A customer sent me this-says it’s on a grand fir. Inside of the canopy looks like it’s fairly brown, they said the white spots are sappy when damaged. The tree is next to a road, my only thought was some sort of reaction to grit salt?
  5. I didn’t realise it had such a hefty price tag! I would assume all the wearing parts would be replaceable similar to the rest of ART products? Wouldn’t be bad value if you get 10 years out of one, my ZZ doesn’t tend to get much beyond 2/3 years before they slip a lot.
  6. This just popped up on my YouTube feed-looks to be a nice well thought through bit of kit. Anyone here know any more about it? Looks like it works well for srt & ddrt unlike a lot of other devices
  7. Try Mitch at Arborchase, he’s always helpful
  8. Following-would also be interested to know if this is the case
  9. I have been asked to price a job in Kidderminster, involving the removal of 3 large wind blown Cedars, 2 still standing-but compromised Cedar, and 1 windblown spruce. The stems are approx 1m diameter and about 20m long. Is anyone on here in that area and interested in them? We are planning to winch them to the only access point, which is not ideal so may need a tractor & timber trailer. Im not from the area and am pricing on behalf of a client, so I have no contacts close by to move this volume of timber, and it seems a shame to sell it for biomass! Any interest drop me a PM Cheers, Tom
  10. No worries mate. Managed to find a decent replacement thankfully👍
  11. I’m after an MS201t/tc, as my 200t has just decided to spit its dummy right before we start back🙃 I’ve checked at arbtrader, would rather not gamble on eBay or Facebook if someone on here has one. If you do please send me a PM or reply on here, I’m Shropshire based but happy to travel within reason. Cheers
  12. I had a set for a short time, absolutely hated them. The gaff angle was so steep you had to be very far away from the stem for them to actually grip, and the length of the gaffs were either too long or short. Horses for courses but they aren’t my cup of tea
  13. I’m after a hook & saw head attachment for the AUS fibreglass rods, and possibly a bag if anyone is selling off any spares? If you have anything feel free to give me a shout, cheers!
  14. Thought it was worth sharing for anyone else who has the same thoughts-large ammo box mounted on the hopper works a treat. Cheap and easy to fit, with a good seal on the lid, cost me £30 all in.
  15. @MattyF cheers for the link. Did some shopping around and found a good sized ammo box for a fraction of the price, certainly won’t look as smart but I can live with that 😂
  16. @MattyF any idea where he gets them from? Pretty sold on the ammo box but that looks the business!
  17. Hadn’t crossed my mind for some reason, but it’ll be perfect for the job. Cheers all🤙
  18. I’ve recently bought a tracked TW230, and I’m looking at putting a tool box on the top of the hopper for a few tools, spares etc. I had a tool box on my previous chipper, but I’m struggling to find anything that looks well made that won’t get shaken to bits in 5 minutes. I was going to mount it where the spare wheel would go on the road tow version, so plenty of room. Any suggestions welcome! Cheers
  19. I’ve got a set of these Fitwell Chop Climber - Arborist Chainsaw Boots - Honey Brothers HONEYBROS.COM Meindl Airstream Chainsaw Boots from the UK's leading Arborist supply company, Honey Brothers tree surgery and... I’ve had them for 12 months, still keeping the water out (mostly) and the sole hasn’t started to peal yet. They’re as light as you’ll get for a climbing boot with chainsaw protection, and I’ve been really impressed with how well they’ve lasted-confident I’ll get another winter out of them at least. Scarfel lite’s last well (imo) but aren’t the most comfortable, plus they’re not light. I had the Andrews Cervino XP before these, nice and light but knackered within 6 months, never again!
  20. THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

I am selling my 2003 Jensen A528T. I have owned the machine for over a year, and know the previous 2 owners. It is in decent condition for its age, and has been well looked after over the last 12/18 months of my ownership. Hours are 2250 currently but will rise slightly as still in occasional use. Many new parts including main bearings, water pump, roller springs & upper UJ. Receipts for all work carried out. The paintwork is reasonable, I have repainted the outside of the hopper, back of the spout and area where hopper meets bodywork with zinc galvanised spray & orange carboxide-it was slightly rusty and I wanted to weather proof it (has worked well but obviously doesn’t match!) It’s been a brilliant little machined, and far out chips its competitors! Only selling as I have a tow behind that’s seeing a lot more use, and I can’t justify 2 machines. Price is £6000.00, firm with no VAT to pay. Give me a call on 07377 328580 for any more info. Cheers!

  21. Possibly a bit far, but I used Kirkland Commercials in Stoke on Trent and they were brilliant. Good price and decent turn around time, plus a really good quality tipper body with lots of nice features. Worth a look even if it’s just to compare prices?
  22. I think it’s got to be double time. You can’t work (safely) the following day, and legally you should have 11 hours between a night shift and working the following day. To my mind you need to be well enough paid to offset the fact you probably won’t be earning the next day. Plus after a few nights you feel like a zombie
  23. I have the Fitwell Chop boots, they’re a protective chainsaw boot that is slightly lighter for climbing. So far they’ve been great, light and comfy and they’ve lasted well thus far having done a winter and 5/6 days a week every week.
  24. Housman Tree Services are looking for a self employed utility arborist to help with ongoing works for Scottish Power. We are based in Oswestry, Shropshire and the work is in/around the Cheshire area. Candidates need to be fully qualified with in-date UA tickets and relevant aerial rescue/woodchipper/first aid all up to date. Preferably SPEN Authorised, however we can arrange authorisation if needed. If interested, please contact Tom on 07377328580
  25. I’m sure @scott83 was looking for a climber in that area?
