  1. Cheers, I’ve actually just downloaded the app so I’ll give that a try-looks like it’s free if you don’t need it too fancy either?
  2. Cheers Andy, it’s more aimed at a way of documenting the daily checks and keeping a record of it. I’ve been doing similar to yourself which works well, but unfortunately not in the eyes of auditors from larger contractors 🙄
  3. As above, I’m looking to simplify daily vehicle & plant checks. I’m struggling to find a decent app that will do a mixture of plant and vehicles/trailers, we aren’t running many vehicles but keeping it all on paper is a bit of a headache (plus they ALWAYS get lost!) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  4. THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

    • FOR SALE
    • USED

This ad is for my Brian James all-plant plant trailer. It’s 8x4, max gross weight 2700kg. It has been used for transporting tracked woodchippers, unsure of exact age but I believe it’s 2016/2018. It has been serviced every 6 months. 4 very good tyres and brand new spare. Only things worth noting- the damper on the hitch is worn, so the damper “knocks” under hard braking, but does not affect the braking performance. The other one is one brake needs adjusting slightly as it’s tighter than the others, easy job I just haven’t got round to it. The hitch itself is absolutely fine, and just needs a cheap damper replacement. Trailer is in daily use. Can deliver locally but collection preferred.

  5. To be honest I’d be looking at something around 2015/18 as I can’t afford a brand spanker, so I would probably fall into the age of issues? I know you can have the DPF removed and remapped, but could be an issue with MOT later down the line
  6. I’m looking for a pickup mewp to use on a utility contract, and it looks as though it’s basically a toss up between an Isuzu Dmax or Toyota Hilux mewp (don’t mention defenders!) Has anyone here had experience running either long term? I have a Hilux tipper that is amazing, but the Isuzu trucks are cheaper for the same boom/miles. I’m aware that some Isuzus have DPF issues? Any input much appreciated!
  7. I can’t speak for the others, but my Hobbs has been a game changer. A bit more lifting capacity would be great, but it will lift small/medium branches and the pretension for bigger lumps makes a huge difference. Main plus is it’s super easy to explain to different ground staff, I’ve used mine with plenty of different groups, and within a few goes they’ve pretty well sussed it
  8. I swap between the 2 pretty regularly. Especially during takedowns, I find the faff of setting up a retrieval system for srt on a stem more hassle than swapping to ddrt and chucking a cambiam saver on. And for big/dieing trees when you can’t shoot straight for a tie in point and need to advance beyond your base anchor. I’m sure most devices would do both fairly well, but something with a swivel that is made for both and not just a compromise does look pretty appealing. I also think the older ZZ last a lot better, I had nearly 5 years from my old style one-newer style ones don’t seem to go much beyond 2. Although I’m using 11.5mm cougar blue predominantly so it’s the smaller end of the range.
  9. I would agree completely-my latest ZZ is 12 months old and starting to show signs of slippage, £600 for 10 years use doesn’t sound like awful value. Especially if it’s good for changing between ddrt and srt. I don’t like the clunky-ness of the RR when you change to double rope.
  10. A customer sent me this-says it’s on a grand fir. Inside of the canopy looks like it’s fairly brown, they said the white spots are sappy when damaged. The tree is next to a road, my only thought was some sort of reaction to grit salt?
  11. I didn’t realise it had such a hefty price tag! I would assume all the wearing parts would be replaceable similar to the rest of ART products? Wouldn’t be bad value if you get 10 years out of one, my ZZ doesn’t tend to get much beyond 2/3 years before they slip a lot.
  12. This just popped up on my YouTube feed-looks to be a nice well thought through bit of kit. Anyone here know any more about it? Looks like it works well for srt & ddrt unlike a lot of other devices
  13. Try Mitch at Arborchase, he’s always helpful
  14. Following-would also be interested to know if this is the case
  15. I have been asked to price a job in Kidderminster, involving the removal of 3 large wind blown Cedars, 2 still standing-but compromised Cedar, and 1 windblown spruce. The stems are approx 1m diameter and about 20m long. Is anyone on here in that area and interested in them? We are planning to winch them to the only access point, which is not ideal so may need a tractor & timber trailer. Im not from the area and am pricing on behalf of a client, so I have no contacts close by to move this volume of timber, and it seems a shame to sell it for biomass! Any interest drop me a PM Cheers, Tom
  16. No worries mate. Managed to find a decent replacement thankfully👍
  17. I’m after an MS201t/tc, as my 200t has just decided to spit its dummy right before we start back🙃 I’ve checked at arbtrader, would rather not gamble on eBay or Facebook if someone on here has one. If you do please send me a PM or reply on here, I’m Shropshire based but happy to travel within reason. Cheers
  18. I had a set for a short time, absolutely hated them. The gaff angle was so steep you had to be very far away from the stem for them to actually grip, and the length of the gaffs were either too long or short. Horses for courses but they aren’t my cup of tea
  19. I’m after a hook & saw head attachment for the AUS fibreglass rods, and possibly a bag if anyone is selling off any spares? If you have anything feel free to give me a shout, cheers!
  20. Thought it was worth sharing for anyone else who has the same thoughts-large ammo box mounted on the hopper works a treat. Cheap and easy to fit, with a good seal on the lid, cost me £30 all in.
  21. @MattyF cheers for the link. Did some shopping around and found a good sized ammo box for a fraction of the price, certainly won’t look as smart but I can live with that 😂
  22. @MattyF any idea where he gets them from? Pretty sold on the ammo box but that looks the business!
  23. Hadn’t crossed my mind for some reason, but it’ll be perfect for the job. Cheers all🤙
  24. I’ve recently bought a tracked TW230, and I’m looking at putting a tool box on the top of the hopper for a few tools, spares etc. I had a tool box on my previous chipper, but I’m struggling to find anything that looks well made that won’t get shaken to bits in 5 minutes. I was going to mount it where the spare wheel would go on the road tow version, so plenty of room. Any suggestions welcome! Cheers
  25. I’ve got a set of these Fitwell Chop Climber - Arborist Chainsaw Boots - Honey Brothers HONEYBROS.COM Meindl Airstream Chainsaw Boots from the UK's leading Arborist supply company, Honey Brothers tree surgery and... I’ve had them for 12 months, still keeping the water out (mostly) and the sole hasn’t started to peal yet. They’re as light as you’ll get for a climbing boot with chainsaw protection, and I’ve been really impressed with how well they’ve lasted-confident I’ll get another winter out of them at least. Scarfel lite’s last well (imo) but aren’t the most comfortable, plus they’re not light. I had the Andrews Cervino XP before these, nice and light but knackered within 6 months, never again!
