seem to be pretty strong, i haven't had any issues as yet, but i don't do firewood for work so wouldn't get as much use as some

twisty stuff does sometimes take a couple of so goes but haven't had anything it hasn't been able to do

With its patented design, the Jansen FS-35Speed flywheel wood splitter constitutes a revolution in wood splitting. It would be virtually…

it's not road towable though but you could stick it on a trailer!!

3 second split cycle, it's very fast!!

Are they a strong machine?, what are they like in horrible twisty wood, I get a fair bit of Arb waste I split.

Or another thought, check the throttle cables not frayed, stretched, or jumped out of its runners ( if there are any on a 700) or tighten throttle by the screw on the trigger

Have used the stihl super on the recommendations of my local stihl dealer ?, time to find my receipt and see if it’s still in warranty!, if out, if you see your fitter, could you ask if it’s a straight forward job to

    fix myself please ??

Was the 2 blowers you had fixed Br700?

Ok right oil, biggest cause out! May be unrelated but in the past month we have had to replace in 2 of our blowers the plastic cam that controls the valves. The small metal piece that comes out centrefugally ( if thats even a word) was getting stuck out which was knocking the exhaust valve at the same time as the other valve, causing low compression. Our fitter did it, i just get the reports, so im not sure the ins and outs of it all ( nor am i a fitter) but that solved low power issues

I would suggest using Aspen for every tank or not at all . The pump fuel will have removed the coating on the rubber components  ( that is put there to keep it supple ) but continue to keep them supple as it is slowly dissolving them .  Aspen wont remove the coating if used from the get go but  but won't keep it supple if used intermittently with pump fuel .

Do you reckon this is the cause for the loss of power?

  7. Purchased earlier this year, used daily for a few hours a day, more in the winter, was a really powerful blower when new, but all of a sudden has lost some power, cleaned fuel tank and changed filters, air filter, but still not much difference, have not done the valve adjustment yet to see if this would make any difference, anyone had similar problems and a fixable solution?

I have a Venom 22 ton and find it excellent. I have not found anything yet that it cannot split. We sometimes take it to site to split rings from large trunks, to make them easier to move.

Rock Machinery were honest about the 4 way splitter head when they said they could not yet provide a durable one. They threw in a free one, which soon started to tear itself at the weld. An experienced welding/fabricating friend had a look at it, repaired it and fitted a few shims where it was not fitting snugly over the 2 way head. It is now working well in 2 or 4 way mode and I recommend it highly.

Rock Machinery have stopped supplying the 4 way head with it, must be because of this issue, apart from this, everything else holding up well?

I've had an AMR 12 ton towable petrol splitter for about 6 months now and can't fault it .

Costs considerably more than the ones your looking at but is fast , fuel efficient , tows lovely and even though only rated at 12 ton splits most things ?

I looked at these on the fuelwood site, they look a very good machine, only bought the venom as it’s had a fair reviews, and It’s only for my own personal use and do a few loads to sell, so hopefully this will do the job for now, they hope to upgrade in a few years time.

Does the AMR come with a Honda lump?

  12. Hi Mike,

  13. I’m in the market for a towable petrol log splitter for home use and possible a bit of part time splitting service for customers, looking for a vertical/horizontal for comfort and ease of use, like the look of the Venom 22 ton for its price and good reviews, and possibly the Balfour 22, not sure on the Thor as probably be to expensive?, want to keep below the £2000 mark, any Black Friday deals on at the min, or good 2nd hand equipment about, based in Suffolk,  and your options and real world experience on owning and using whatever you have.

    Regards

    Kieran.

  15. Hi, thanks for your replies , access to the rear of property is great, all open space  no restrictions at all, nothing breakable it’s just a large open rear garden.

Hedge tops are multi but it has been maintained by the previous owners, but not been cut for the last couple of years, just the side are over grown it’s over 10ft wide.

Just moved into the property and  wanted to open up the garden the best I can for this year.

Also my new neighbour is chewing my ear about how big it is, it’s bloody hideous.

Just thought this would be the cheaper option for this year as when I do have the money to close board it, it cost will be far more than what has been quoted.

    Thanks for all your replies.

  16. Good evening everyone, my first post on here, please be gentle lol, was wondering if I could ask your professional advice, I have a 14ft high x 100ft long leylandii hedge which I want reducing 2/3 ft off the top and 4/5 foot off the sides, I know it will look awful but it’s a temporary tidy in the garden before we remove and replace with close board fencing next year.

Been getting a couple of quotes for the work to be done, but they differ greatly, job is to cut and chipper it and take chips away.

Could I get some advice on genuine prices what people would charge?, so I can arm myself.

Don’t want to get stitched up.

    Thanks for your help.
