  1. Thanks all, not had much time this last couple of days with the stove install. I'll carry on trying to ID the logs over the next couple of weeks as I restack them and burn them. Alicydon. Yes, had the 1412 installed the last couple of days. Bought it from a local dealer in the end who beat the best online price I could find, a great deal in the end and much less than the RRP. So i get the cheaper price and the full warranty (already registered with Morso UK). Also got some Morso fore tools chucked in the deal. As for the wood, I went with a local ish supplier in the end and I am really pleased so far. I did look at the crates from Morso too. Thanks for your advice on using the stove. Going to have a couple of small kindling fires tomorrow and then a bigger fire in the evening. Plastering isn't being done until the weekend, so don't have to wait for that to dry yet.
  2. They said just a mix of British sourced hardwoods. Here's some pics...
  3. Ordered the wood Monday and it arrived Tuesday. The chap delivering was great. As my store is not ready I've had to stack it in our covered alleyway, which means I'll have to stack again at some point. The wood looks great. Very clean. I'll probably have to post some pics tomtry and help me know what wood is what. But am pleased with the amount and appears well dry (also waiting for a cheap moisture monitor from eBay). I have a decent chopping block and a cheap nasty hand axe which I use camping. Some of the logs may need splitting again. If I upgrade my "axe" what's best to go for? It'll mainly be splitting logs, making kindling but ideally want something I can choose with from time to time and maybe take camping if needed. I don't really want to have to buy two or three tools, so looking for one that'll cover everything (albeit not as well as individual tools)
  4. I have ordered the 1.5m3 of british kiln dried from logs2yourdoor. Should be here tomorrow If its good stuff, I'll probably get a load of their barn dried in the summer ready for next winter.
  5. That was why I was looking at the crates, I didn't reqlly want to gamble especially on my first load. Having said that, logs2yourdoor are fairly local (Shrewsbury), British timber, decent ish price, kiln dried hardwood. Just can't see too many reviews about them.
  6. The only thing is, that's a mixed bag and 1.5 cube loose. With the crates I could have oak or ash for similar money (£150) and I think they are nearly 1.5 cube when loose?
  7. Thanks. And yes, if anyone on here can help us out, that would be great. As far as Certainly Wood being British timber, I think the logs2yourdoor are as well - http://logs2yourdoor.co.uk/logs/kiln-dried/bulk-bag-kiln-dried-logs
  8. Yes, sorry....I am in North Worcestershire area.
  9. Hi all I realise this forum isn't really intended for "end users" but I have been reading this forum with great interest and I have learnt a lot! I am just about to have a small log burner installed at home and need to buy in a supply of wood. Long term I will possibly look at buying locally and seasoning myself but for my initial batch I think I am best buying in the best wood I possibly can. I'll have a small ish log store. So, I was looking at one of the small/medium sized (imported?) kiln dried crates of oak or ash. Ideally I want somewhere between 1 and 1.5 cubes. There seems to be hundreds of different online sellers, but not that local so I am looking at any company that will do UK delivery. Any recommendations? Am happy to pay a bit more for better quality, but want the best overall deal. With my uneducated research, the following options are on my list at the moment... https://www.logsforsale.co.uk/product/1m3-crate/ http://www.whitehorseenergy.co.uk/firewood/kiln-dried-ash-firewood/kiln-dried-ash-firewood-large-crate https://www.uklogsdirect.co.uk/kiln-dried-logs-c1/kiln-dried-ash-logs-c2/kiln-dried-ash-logs-half-crate-dry-low-moisture-logs-p19 And another option I looked at was http://logs2yourdoor.co.uk/logs/kiln-dried/bulk-bag-kiln-dried-logs which is not a crate and a mix of hardwoods.
