  1. I've been asked to do loads of hedge removal, a big job! Most of it is hawthorn under 4 inches and laurel under 6. The specs on my machine are 14.9gpm 3000psi and 32hp. Would my machine run a shear ok ? Weight is not an issue due to the hedges being pretty small but I'm wondering if it will have the ommph to run it? Any advice welcome

    Thanks in advanced

  2. I've got a klou grab, forks, bucket, and flail. The grab is on 90% of the time. One thing to bear in mind with the klou grab is that it only spins 270° making feeding a chipper a little bit harder. I would say that is its only disadvantage against a knock about grab mick is describing. This is on a 32hp boxer so a little bit bigger than what machine your looking at. Next purchase is going to be a rake for me, they look so handy

Horse power is a misleading figure in working vehicle terms.

A 1.8 golf will have more bhp than the Ford Ranger.

An 18 t lorry has the same sort of horse power as a sporty estate car

Not even worth looking at horse power figures on vans. Down to torque and how it’s geared.

Modern engines are more efficient and burn cleaner with less pollution but they use more fuel to do it.

Anyone buying a new tipper just needs to buy the best they can realistically afford. The least abused and most looked after

My mk7 2.4 transit has been superb. Hard to find a good clean sensible mileage one now though.

Worst thing I’ve driven of late is the 1.9 Isuzu grafter. What a miserable van that is in every respect.

    Hi

Can you explain how an engine can be more efficient but use more fuel? I was under the impression an engine being more efficient ment it used less fuel?

    Thanks

Perhaps, but there’s a gate in the photo of the OPs house so some sort of entrance to remove wood etc, take out a panel of fencing, Bob is your mother’s brother.

Fair one, panel out would defo be a game changer and bring it closer to your price. Well round my way anyway not sure about London!

He’s not wrong though is he? No more than a day.

He didn’t say what it should cost, only what it shouldn’t.

You reckon only a day?Especially with the grind? It's hard to say without seeing access but chances are it's gunna be bad. I haven't used one of the turn table pedestrian grinders but they can't be much better than a normal one. Looks like it's at least gunna be a 36inch bar at the very bottom? Getting it down, shifting all that wood then grinding out a huge stump with one of those grinders is gunna be a big ask?

  6. Hi

Come to flip the shear bars on my 19-28 tow along and have noticed the vertical has cracked. Anyone know where I can pick one up from this week if possible? I've seen orangeplant have quadtrak ones in, that look very similar but not sure if there the same?

    Thanks Matt
