  1. Can I ask a question about black locust trees, if anyone has any experience? I have planted a series for future firewood. After the first year and in the winter I removed all side branches on the bottom third of the main trunk. I have to say that the trunk and branches are covered with lethal thorns. I new they would be thorny but they grow so fast and are considered a hardwood so I couldn't resist them. What I want to ask is, is there an easy way to remove the thorns when they are ready to be cut down for firewood? Also, I have seen that there are Honey Locust that can be grown for firewood. Does anyone know what the thorns are like on these and would they be easier to deal with?
