  1. Honestly. I couldn't see me needing either. I just don't cut big wood, not qualified to do so. Spud is going to port my 357xp, so I really think that'll have enough grunt for me. I just don't want to be left holding a brand new MS 362, given that they seem to have a dubious rep. If you see me up here in 2-4 weeks offering up a new saw (MS362 or 441 or 461) for a bit less than the shop price, it won't be stolen, it'll be my saw.
  2. I might have an option at my dealer for buying a more expensive Stihl saw (i.e. more expensive than the MS362). Any suggestions on a bigger bullet-proof Stihl? I won't keep it, but it may have a decent resale value if it is a known good saw. Reason for the possible upgrade is that the Supplier is adamant that I can only have what was ordered via my funding, BUT if I am spending more than what was on the original order, I don't think they will have a problem with it. Definitely getting the MS201T c-m. They had only one saw bigger than the 362 in stock, but I don't remember what it was...
  3. I think I am sold on Spuds suggestions for the 357xp. I might have a MS362cm (brand new), up for sale in 2-4 weeks. The 339xp, will likely be up for sale at the same time...
  4. Spud? Thanks I'll look him up. Might be an option whilst i run in the MS362
  5. , Who ports them in the UK? Or in Ireland for that matter That would be something I would consider.
  6. I'm liking my 357 more, every time another person complements the saw!
  7. Well I had to pay my deposit today (I have to pay 20%, funding takes care of the rest) and the supplier isn't at all flexible about me choosing other saws, so the 201T C-M and the 362 C-M are what I'll end up with. It'll be interesting to see if I end up selling them and keeping the Husky's or keeping the Stihl's and selling the Huskies...
  8. Looked up '201T problem'. It seems clear that the early ones, were crap and Stihl was slow to acknowledge that. The C-M variants, which are newer, get the thumbs up. My dealer only sells the 201T C-M variant. Stock, it's not as good as the 200T. We all know(or think we know) that. But I belive that even BSnelling himself, suggests that the Multitronic stock, is a good saw... Sorry Brad, I don't claim to know you at all, I have read an awful lot of your posts and watched your vids. You clearly know what you are doing, and seem to concentrate on the saw 'in-hand', rather than expectations, which seems like a good scientific method to me...
  9. Is it just that no-one here likes Stihl, or that these are two crap saws? I'm not a fan boy, of anything, including music, if I don't like , I don't buy...
  10. I run a small business. These saws are EXPENSIVE in Ireland. I can't justify keeping 4 saws + the pole pruner. The funding for the new saws goes directly to the supplier, so they have to be bought, if I want to keep the funding....
  11. Hmmmm:sneaky2: I have seen a lot of very good reviews of that saw, and a few not good reviews. The same could be said of the MS201T C-M. I think a lot of it comes down to weather you get a lemon or not. I have generally been pretty lucky with gear (and funding!) and mostly I take the time to learn how to use my gear well.
  12. I don't know guys. Maybe you are right. I know that the 357 hasn't really seen heavy work, it had the original 15 inch bar on until a month ago AND it is a joyful thing to use in careful hands. I might consider keeping it whilst I run in the MS 362 (this is the C-M variant, it is getting a better write-up...)
  13. Yes, but I will have an MS362 to keep me warm at night. I know what you mean with the 357. It sounds great, pulls well and is very well built. I think the MS362 will be just a small step up, but also bullet proof. Looking forward to running it in...
  14. Hi Folks! I'm a Lurker for at least the last 2 years. Now officially a Newb (on 2 forums). Have a few questions that some might be interested in discussing. I run a gardening business in Ireland. I trained as a recreational climber for about 5 years, then trained in Tree Felling and Chainsaw Maintenance (C.S.30 +31). I can't really be called an Arborist, as I didn't specifically train as one. I run 3 saws: 339xp, needs to be feathered on warm start, but does what I bought it for. 357xp, lovely saw, now with a 20 inch new bar and chain on it. Stihl Multitool chainsaw head for low limbing. Just received grant funding for: MS 201T C-M MS 362 C-M I am mostly a one-man show. I love doing tree work, but it is less than 20% of my business. Any suggestions on a suitable set-up for the new Stihls? Spark Arrestors? Muffler Mods? Stock? Any worthwhile porting in Ireland/UK? Any interest in the 2 XP's? (Not selling them for another month, until the funding hits my supplier and the new saws are available) Thanks RD:thumbup:
