1. Apparently you can get the new A540T with a 37hp Yanmar engine comes with a engine management system designed to get it to meet emissions regs BUT extra 9000k!! According to our dealer the 25hp kubota A540 still has the same output as old 37hp 18cubic metres an hour!!

I tried a 6" with a 25hp kubota and it wasn't anything like the old 35hp. That was in a 6", cant imagine what it's like in an 8"!

Still using the A530T with 35hp and has been great machine for us but want to upgrade to a A540T and can only get the 25hp from our main dealer. So not sure at the moment.

  3. Has anyone experience of the new Jensen A540T with Kubota engine set up to meet the emissions regs. As far as I know the spec is the usual 37hp engine now set at 25hp with 18.5KW output. Just wanted to know if anyone has noticed any major performance issues?

    Cheers.

  4. It wasn't meant in a nasty way, I don't know you have disability. My point was that from a photograph it's hard to make a correct diagnosis. I own a defender and had a nasty oil leak, I took it to the garage I use and it was sorted in no time. It can leak from various places on the engine/gearbox. Better to get it right than messing about.

No honestly its fine I know what you mean't and no major disabilities just really dodgy knees, poor eye sight and hair loss :001_smile:.

The Landrover although second hand is new to our set up and I have no experience of them, the dealer I bought it from is telling me its normal for landrovers to have this kind of leak and my nearest main dealer is two hours drive away, the local commercial garage where we usually go is a bit vague about fixing it or leaving it. So I just wanted to see what you guys thought before I make up my mind what to do next.

  5. Why not take it to a reputable garage and get them to have a look rather than a poor photograph on an Internet forum full of "experts" 😏

That's a tad harsh it's not easy you know getting under a landrover that's leaking oil and taking a shot from that angle with my disabilities. Now if you'd questioned my abilities with and my limited experience of landrovers then fair enough.

Already done the garage thing but wanted to know other 'experts' experience.

  6. If you have a husky or a stihl, I would stick with the same make.

Some of the folks responding to this thread were victims of earlier units acting up. They both had teething problems, but most of their issues are well behind them now.

The 550 handles nicely, and weighs a bit less than the 261. The 261cm has loads of power though, especially modified. I would get whichever appeals to you most.

Ahh the dulcet tones of sound reason!!

  7. Completely different saw but my 540's the same , I would of thought by now for health and environmental reasons chain oil flow is limited on top handles or any saw for that matter... Have you ever run up an old 020 on a sunny day the chain oil vapours hang in the air it's spraying out that much oil, not good for you breathing it in!!

I tried to address that somewhat by using veg oil. But yeah our older Stihl top handles certainly used a whole tank of oil each fill. Bought a top handled Echo years ago at the Arb trade show and that used loads of oil after using it you could take up Turkish wrestling! Don't use it much mainly because of the ridicule I get, but nice for light pruning.

  8. What about a grab without a rotator but lots of gripping power to get you going then add a rotator later on

Great set up just what I was thinking of. Is there a big advantage having a rotor and grab instead of just a fixed grab?

  9. M Large outside Belfast would be a good bet for a decent grab/rotator. There is Oakleaf forestry as well, Murphy brothers in Ferns, Wexford down south. Good luck with it.

Cheers I'll give them a call, have had a few bits of M large in the past so will try them first. But need to source a machine first.
