Burnit

Hi All, Just wondered what you all would reccomend for a flexible liner, i will be burning only wood and will be getting 316 grade 6". So far i have looked at, Schiedel TecnoFlex Plus Silvacore I have been told the Helix Premium is a very good liner and is lower cost than the other two but wanted someone with more knowledge to reccomend 1 of the 3 or an entirely different brand. Thanks for any advice given

Hi All, The wife has finally relented and allowed me to purchase a Wood Burner as we currently have an open fire that really doesnt provide any heat, I have purchased a Mendip Christon 750 for an amazing price (it was a buy it now or miss out kind of deal) and am going to start work on opening up the fireplace so a Hetas fitter can come in and drop the liner and and connect the flue to the stove. Just wondered if anyone has experience of these stoves, i must admit the dimensions are going to be tight, the breast total is 1420mm wide so i will be having chimney legs of 250mm and a 75mm gap around the stove(Mendip states 50mm min, 100mm is perfect), its a full convection stove with outer casing so distance to combustables is only 100mm. Only other worry is that it runs at 8.7 kw nominal and running it full pelt will be far to much for the room, so planned to run it hot but with limited amounts of logs to keep burn times and heat down, our house is incredibly leaky so feel that it wont overpower the room size and i am also going to run the closed combustion pipe below the hearth and into the suspended floor for clean air so it will not be pulling air in from inside the house. Just wanted more experienced peoples view on this if in theory the above sounds right, or have i missed something. EDIT: its a 2017 model but has never been fired and has the SIA Eco Ready sticking on it but i am not sure it has the modification to limit the air draw to 50%. Will that be an issue? Cheers, Bob

Just wish I had a bigger yard, have about 6 tonnes of oak now and im nearly full but it breaks my heart to see them pile it up and burn it all.

Well im up to about 6 tonne of oak now from the felled woodland but spotted some logs that must have been cut some time ago. Was told it was fine to take them but was not 100% sure what it is. Im trying to rescue all the ash and oak before its put in a big pile and burned so I do not want to waste time collecting inferior wood. click image upload forum image hosting If it turns out to be some kind of Fir I will be gutted as that will be a trip that could of had more Oak. That's great because I know their is a lot of ash there but as I was not sure I left it for what I hoped was oak. I have severe jealousy of you tree surgeons as I was like a kid in a sweet shop but you guys get to do it everyday, there is about 2 miles of trees fell so I will be able to take my time and take pictures of the trees to learn more about them.

Hi All, My home is heated by log burners so I get through plenty of wood a year, which can become expensive. What I have tried to do is buy in most but top it up with wood that I can get hold of. I am in the lucky position of having access to acres of freshly cut woodland and have started to go on weekends, but I am having trouble identifying the oak and ash. I picked a big tree that I thought was oak but im now thinking it may be Elm. Here are some photos of it, if anyone can give advice on the best way to ID oak and Ash it would be appreciated.
