  1. You know your stuff - it's as if you do it as a job or something! Mix of Sitka and scot's pine for £28.25 a tonne, and he's offered ten tonnes of hardwood (mostly birch, but quite a mix) at only £32 a tonne, so I'm taking as much as I can fit of that! Thanks for your advice - I'll go back to lurking! Yours, Nathan
  2. Near Auchterarder. It's not FCS, Scottish woodlands. Looking at the stacks in daylight, I think it might be a mix of Douglas and Sitka. Thanks for advice so far.
  3. I'm in Perthshire, and have a chance to buy around 10 tonnes of softwood (for personal use). It might be Douglas fir, but I'm not sure. They felled it a couple of months ago, and are extracting around 4,000 tonnes along the track behind our house, then racking it for pickup by artic, around 75 yards away.. Around half of that is for firewood, with remainder strainers and some milling timber. If I'm asked to name a price, what is a fair starting point for firewood? It's hard to get a feel for prices, from some googling, would £20 a tonne be about right? Any thoughts appreciated!
