yes, it is actually the safety cage being raised that causes it just does not disengage the safety mechanism

Anyone had this before?
The main leaver sits in the far forward position after a manual split and has to be manually returned to centre.
I have the external splitting leavers fitted and it seems that now the safety mechanism, which engages when you lift the shield is no longer resetting (i think). its either a spring missing or crap jamming something I would guess but I can't see anything which would cause this.
Thanks

Hi all, wonder if anyone has come across this issue, I have a farmi wp 36, it has just started squeaking really bad. i have swapped around the nylon block so no play in the bed but still squeaking. i have a call into Reko to see what they can suggest.
Thanks

10min job if can budge the large allen bolts.
Nice one, when it finally gets to eaten away, guess I'll go for the changeover

Presuming we are talking about the Igland Forest all in one instead of the Oregon bar and spacer?
If so I have tried it and reverted back to the original set up. The Igland bar is a touch thicker and seems more prone to jamming with twisty wood. Also seems soft and spent a lot of time dressing it. It still used the same gauge 0.58 1.5mm chain so not a true harvester bar
How easy is the changeover, i have the igland blade and am not happy with it.

Maybe a free bag of softwood for this stove seller would be a good investment for you? It might make him reconsider the advice he gives...
lol, you would have thought so but that's what brought it on, I dropped of some leaflets and a couple of bags of wood, he picked up the bags and that's when he went off on the whole hardwood has twice the energy content and softwood is the only wood which creates creosote

But are the costs per kw the same?
Softwood has around 75% the energy of hardwood per volume, which means from the customer's side they would be looking at 70-75% to make switching interesting. However you often see softwood only around 10-15% cheaper so is it any wonder the slow demand. I guess that is because although softwood is cheaper to produce that often doesn't match a final 25% cost reduction including delivery?
have a look at this http://www.fao.org/3/a-i4441e.pdf
i had a discussion with a stove seller who tells all his customers never to burn softwood, which really got my goat as where we are there is no hardwood and i only supply kiln dried softwood- 2

It's bonkers that they sell them un-insulated! The difference in uninsulated and insulated is amazing.
From that i take it you have one or have seen one in action?

So has anyone done this, just wondering what the out come was.

I know but need a roundabout number, its all going to be softwood if that helps narrow it down a bit

Hi all, long time lurker here. i know this has been discussed in the past, i just can't find the post. anyway the question is how much does a 1m3 vented bag weigh before drying and after. 185Kg springs to mind for dry, but i also need to know fresh cut as i need to buy a tractor ... on a tight budget
Jotul - You should only burn hardwoods
