  1. Yeah, I'm not prepared to pay for my tickets, then keep busting a nut for him for 45 a day. At the moment though, unqualified, I suppose it's better than nothing.
  2. Totally agree with you about limited earning ability with no tickets. I'm just grateful to have reasonably steady work at the moment. I'm on a £45 day rate (which I have to say works out less than minimum wage some days, I'm 26). But my feeling is that if I didn't do it, there would be plenty of other people wiling to. And I enjoy it. Obviously when work dries up/weather writes off days, I feel pretty skint. Do you think 45 is a bit low for someone with tickets? Also I forgot to say, we are both working for him on a self-employed basis.
  3. I am 1 of 2 groundmen working for a small tree gang. The other (more experienced) guy has just left saying that the boss was taking the mick with pay. I can see where he is coming from regarding a lot of physical and dangerous work. I do not have any tickets, he had 30/31. I don't want to fork out on my tickets if I going to feel the same way as him in a couple years time. What sort of hourly/daily rate are other groundmen on/what do you pay your groundmen? Thanks.
  4. I have been a groundman for an experience tree surgeon in the South West for the past couple years and I'm looking to get qualified. Initially looking to do my CS30/31. Does anyone know anywhere where I could do these courses over a series of weekends in order that I don't have to take time off work. Doesn't have to be in the south west - I don't mind travelling. Thanks. Rex.
