Hi guys, Started off doing tree work full time, but took a job on the books with a property management company about 18 months ago. I manage a small team - We do garden maintenance/grounds maintenance/tree work for holiday homes/hotels etc. Hold Nptc chainsaw and climbing qualifications, but been asked to have a think about what gardening/grounds tickets/qualifications I would like the company to put me through this year. Keen to add another few strings to my bow for when I'm too old to climb. Also the company looks better if I had some formal qualifications (eg RHS). Should add that I have quite a bit of experience gardening but no formal training. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Cheers. Rex

Hi guys, Been on the lookout for a few acres of land in South Devon for around 18 months. Fed up of giving wood away because I have no where to store it. Ideally I would have enough space to keep some livestock too. I have a decent budget, but not really sure where else to look. I have tried approaching landowners directly, but everyone seems reluctant to let go of their land. Any ideas where to look? Anyone got any land in South Devon they are looking to sell? Just taken a full time gardening job on a permanent contract. Salary + overtime + sick pay + holiday pay + pension. Less hours, less stressful, easier work than the tree work i have been doing for past 6 years. So how come it pays £4000 more per year? Just doesnt make sense to me.

We got paid £100 to retrieve a carrier bag a few years ago. Took 10 minutes.

Just been asked to split a few loads of seasoned logs for a customer. At the bottom of a long garden apparently. Not something I normally do. And I don't have a splitter - log everything by hand at the yard (keeps me out of mischief and save having to buy gym membership). My question is what sort of price can you charge for splitting logs? Surely can't be much. Would it be worth me borrowing a splitter and taking the job on? Anyone do much splitting? Cheers

I like the idea of permanently bolting the angle to the truck. Makes installing and removing so much quicker. How have you bolted through the load liner into the rails?
