  1. I was looking at that one but I think the lack of a rotating spout is putting me off
Ye that had me hesitating on it for a while. Just figured I will get one fabricated when I have had it pay it's way. Got chatting to someone who has already done that with his MDL chipper and works a treat. But I agree it's not ideal as is.
  2. Ye, even I have been kicking around these forums long enough to not expect much else. I don't know what came over me.

I got the MDL Powerup 15hp. Was pretty impressed with the look of it when I went to have a look compared to other chippers in that low budget range.

  3. Getting into these heated discussions on a public forum of 'mine is better than yours' and copyright arguments etc. can not be doing your company image any good.

But thanks to all the useful posts on here that resulted in me finally joining the club earlier this week.

  4. Cedar is great for milling.
    Light,strong and durable timber.
    Bit too far from Yorkshire
    For me though.

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you? I may have a job coming up removing a large Cedar, would be a shame to send it for firewood.
  5. This is something I have been thinking of while reading the comments. I would not want to encourage them to keep the tree but spend a decent amount of money reducing it only to find out in a couple of years they have to spend another chunk of money because the disease had effected the tree more than first thought.

So for this and for them to have the piece of mind of not having to worry about it again, I am leaning towards removal and encouraging planting I'm it's place But that being said, I will give them the info you good people have shared and let them make a decision.

  6. Well my grandparents are pretty happy for it coming down if there is any risk, no matter how small a risk, of it being unsafe. It is in reach of there house, just about. If that answers your question treeseer.

stubby, is your view of it being in decline just down to the age and life span of the tree, or as a result of the disease?

Out of interest what would your recommendations be in such a tree? (understand it is difficult to say with sertanty with such little info).

  7. Hi all, I work with trees however not really clued up on signs of disease's and what it means for the management of a tree.

My grandparents neighbours had a guy in carrying out some work on their trees and he noticed their large sycamore and stopped by to tell them it is diseased and recommended having it removed. I wanted to come on here and get your opinion (not that I distrust his professionalism, just thought it wise as he potentially has some invested interest in carrying out the work if they decide to remove it).

The tree is a multi stem Sycamore right on the edge of a small stream.

Fungus and black charcoal textured substance near the Base of the tree, back of the tree in shade all day and on the stream side of the trunk. There is also a good amount of dead wood up the tree.

If anyone would be able to share some wisdom I would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Alec

  9. Ye, so far so good. Not sure if the update has changed much other than the looks of the saw (never used the older versions). We had 560's before, loved the saw but got fed up of them needing attention. So far the 362 has been a good substitute.
