  1. So.... Drill a hole and fill with araldite?
  2. Both metal ends of my carbon fiber extention rotate up to a quarter.. anyone know how to fix this.. it's not the detatchable collar, the bits that are built on to the shaft. It wobbles side to side with the vibration from the saw head, especially with a pushing chain. Cheers
  3. Yaris' are amazing, i can fit my mower in the boot of one! I used to have a dispatch van which was great as a mobile shed, but it died fast so I'm now waiting til i can afford a van that'll last me a while. Good point there about working with what you have
  4. Yeah definitely need a blower, last one got nicked out of a mates van
  5. Haha, cheers guys. No big bankroll to get started, just what's left over from work (5 days a week subbing if i want it) after paying rent and for 2 kids! So a bit of a slow one, loan and credit card available though if i need anything in particular for a job. I already have.. stihl 260, husq 345, fs410, km130 with saw and extension, self prop mower, hs45, hand tools, barrow, ladder, drill, impact driver, chop saw, sander, planer, grinder, circular saw, levels, woodworking hand tools. Quite a few other smaller tools but this list is getting silly. Tickets cs30/31 +5yr refresher, brushcutters, pa1+6, first aid, 1yr of a Hort degree, waste carrier licence and insurance. I drive a Suzuki wagon r, which is hilarious when full to the brim with branches.
  6. I'm a one man band starting out doing garden, tree and fencing work, sheds, pergolas, scrub clearance etc. What kit do you recommend for getting going? I've got bits and bobs but I'm keen to see if I'm missing anything vital. Also what vehicle? Cheers
  7. Those numbers are quite a hike from the day rate i previously have worked for, I'm aware that I've got tools and insurance etc to cover. I feel that asking for more is greedy until I've built a decent client base
  8. What % should i be thinking about on top? I'm in mid Somerset if area makes a difference.
  9. Cheers guys, I've been flyering, advertised in local shops and put my name down with all the letting agents in town. I'll get on the council today. I've made a pricing structure of 20 per hour, 75 for half day and 140 per day. Sound about right? What kit do you think you need to get a running start?
  10. I've been doing rail, domestic and forestry work full time for the last 3 years but now I want to go it alone doing countryside and gardening jobs. I've got the basic contracting kit and skills, from building sheds/fences to clearing scrub and felling. And I studied horticulture at college. How did you guys get started? What kit do you view as essential? Flyers? Website? What information on advertising - a full list of services, or simply 'cointryside & garden services? Any help much appreciated Cheers Ben
  11. Englebert Strauss 'yellowstone' have done me well for 3 years of thorn bashing on rail. Their entire glove range is high quality, sometimes have to sift through the box to find ones that fit your hand well. I go through 2 pairs a year
