  1. Hi Just thought I would chuck in my 2 pence Left my reasonably comfortable job last year to go into arb work, don't regret a thing, feel lucky to be doing something I enjoy near home with decent people. Got my climbing quals from my last job with was a bonus but just got in touch with loads of local companies, some got back to me, and as long as you work hard and, listen and turn up on time you will get asked back. Most people are more than happy to pass on their skills. Now got a full time job as a climber with my local council getting loads of experience. As with most things in life you make your own luck, if you want it just go do it!
  2. Hi, in the research stage of a move to tree work, got some great advice on here before so hoping for a little more. My goal is to be self employed, I understand it's going to take a year or twos experience to be competent but after that and once the business is on it's feet how much can I reasonably expect to earn? I'm outside London which I guess will make a difference and I know working for yourself these things are not guaranteed. I'm looking to make the move to improve my quality of life not for mega bucks but I need to know the facts, many thanks in advance Rich
  3. Probably a daft question but im a noob so forgive me, what sort of health benefits? And would a couple of solar cells on the roof of your truck with them on trickle charge help or reduce the overall life of the battery
  4. Hey, thank you all very much for all your feedback, has adjusted my expectations slightly, realised im not going to do a 10 week course and be all over it, but hey when was anything worth doing easy? Will be back on here soon begging you all for work im sure, Cheers again and have a great bank holiday
  5. Hi, first off thanks for taking the time to read this, i`m looking for a career change and think Arborist could really suit me (love being outdoors, climbing and dangerous machinery) Going self employed is a huge draw to me, with a budget of around £10,000 excluding training costs would I be able to set up on my own? Any help would be appreciated but looking for advice on choice of vehicle (tipper transit maybe) is it worth getting a chipper straight off? How many and what sort of chainsaws? How much should I budget for climbing kit.?Looking to set up in Malvern/Worcester area, is there even enough work out there at the moment? As I say thanks again and looking forward to hearing from you all
