I agree,
One thing I've never done is when a load comes in of say 25 tn, split it out into a separate pile and then net it to see how many nets you get out of an artic load.
Anyone done this?

Cheers buddy,
Really helpful advice!
What would you go for in the 25-30hp range?

Hi Guys,
This is the first time time I have posted a thread with pictures, so please accept my apologies now if i cock this up.
According to the client it hasn't come into leaf in the last four years and is covered by the marks showing in the pictures. I was just wondering if anyone new what the were. It runs from very nearly the base of the tree right to the top of the canopy.
Thanks in advance.

Yes and you entirely free to pick your own clients.
if a client asks me to come round and quote on butchering a tree I either walk away from it or try to educate them as to what a better course of action would be, and usually you find they go with it. I think it is an important part of our job, so that's how I work that out. If their instructions are bad you should really walk away from it.
-
Using the premise, "if we hadn't done it someone else would've". Is quite frankly an awful defence.
It is an excuse to make shoddy work excusable. I think that kind attitude lowers the tone of the industry. Part of our role is to educate and act in the trees best interest.
Just my opinion though.

depends on the site, if you are in the back and beyond where I live, go for it. If you are in an urban area, go through the proper channels as stated above.

Old Mill Tree Care,
All I can say is that yes when you start out it is stressful. I have run a tree surgery business all my life and as the years role by you realise that broadly with trees there is nothing that you cannot sort out or rectify, or anything that is so urgent it cant be dealt with tomorrow (emergencies aside) so don't worry and go with the flow.

British hardwood trees, have a great website. Really informative.
The site we are planting on is all peat. So next task will be to work out which species suit
acidic ground best.
Any suggestions very welcome.
Cheers Myles

I have a 12 acre site that needs to be replanted coming up in the not to distant future.
We are planting a mixture of native broadleaves. 6000, 40-60 cm whips to go in, stake and shield.
I haven't done this for a while and was after some recommendations for suppliers for the whips and canes etc.
Based in Cheshire if that helps.
Many thanks in advance.
