  1. You’ll need to buy a HCPU then if your not able to build / convert a body yourself then find a firm that can

its as long as it is short, obviously building your own body lets you chose the design & spec

you could also streacth the chassis from 110 to 130 or even 140 etc

this is is the good thing about defenders, you can modify them ?

  2. I run a couple of defenders ( cherry picker & HCPU tipper ) I wouldn’t say there unreliable in fact I’d say there totally reliable ( simple ) there not the most  comfortable vehicle but there not ment to be, there a ruff rugged work horse

I will say a 30 mile journey feels like 300

and I wouldn’t replace my iveco daily with one  but there ideal to run along side it

    diesel wise there ok

Do you need one or want one ? I do jobs where only a 4x4 is needed but 90% of my work is normal trucks

good image and customers seem to like them

mine have winches and insa turbo  special track tyres so when off road they don’t get embarrassed

  3. Iv got a defender it does most of what I need it to do

I love the speed of the set up easy to use and move about can tow a trailer or chipper etc

a firm i contract for had a tracked mewp on a trailer personally I didn't like it towing on trailer set up takes longer

the mewp i want next is nisssn cabstar I love the height & out reach and at a good price 2nd hand

Hey folks need a tipper asap unfortunately I've had a number of big money outputs recently so am looking at an old LDV or smiley transit, basically the sort of thing you folks were running twenty years ago. Anyone have experience of running either machine in the business and could one still be a viable workhorse until funds are available for something fresher?

Iv got an 03 plate transit arb tipper in yard with mot on it

it's a bit tatty but ready for work

  5. Surely the balance on the two axels is important, plus the height of the tow hitch.

I've towed a digger with the Ranger (only 1.5 tonne plus buckets admittedly) been in all sorts of trouble, moved it backward or forward and it pulls like a dream.

Your right trailers need to be loaded right and towed at right hight, but most people ant got a clue but pull it off if using a heavy vehicle

Put a donut in a pick up with an Ifor, there's your ideal combo for crash

  6. I wouldn't recommend using a pick up truck as a heavy towing vehicle there too light on rear end and normally end up facing the wrong way on the motorway when they failed to power out of a snake

Of course you can load the bed with waight to help stop that happening but then you look like a tug

  7. Are they the 2.3 or 3l? I've got the 35C14 (3l 140hp) and it pulls like a train no matter what I put behind it. Crewcab payload is only about 900kg but I'd buy another one tomorrow, really tough truck.

The Navara wouldn't pull a greasy man out of bed.

    Regards,

    Steve.

100% agree, Iveco Daily will pull heavy loads with ease all day everyday

  8. You'd beat a bobcat with a mustang anyday. Far better built machines, better balance and cheaper we found. We have a 1650r, about 21k new lifts nearly a ton, get it with foot pedals and levers, gives far better control.

Bobcat, mustang, CAT, jcb there all reasonable pricked skidsteer 2nd hand and attachment fit all from a few houndred quid

I like the look of the jcb robot as it's got a side door

  9. His drove in a hole ???

Next time it's wet I'll Video my bobcat crusin tro mud no problem

Have you actually got or operated one ???

Pound for pound you won't beat a bobcat / skidsteer

Iv operated the twist steer machines and there pretty impressive good but in my eyes look a bit toy town and I don't like perching on top but feel safe tucked inside a skidsteer

The op can afford to buy a bobcat out right and the attachments are very cheep and available for bobcats

  10. Wheeled skidsteers are completely useless on any sort of grass or mud. They have no traction and sink very quickly if it's even slightly damp, I've seen them stuck in deep gravel as well. If you look on instagram everyone has tracked skid or articulating wheeled. There's a reason for that.

However, you can put bands over the wheels on them. There is one about with a mulcher on a wheeled Case but i'm not sure how effective they are or how long they last.

Iv only got normal tyres on my bobcat it flys tro mud might need a few shunts every now n then but I'm impressed with it in the mud

Also front wheelie,s avoid damage to grass and saves the tyres on concrete

  11. In the summer I can't say Iv noticed any damage to grass with bobcats, i recon most machines will damage grass in winter/wet etc

I only tend to take mine to site if it's a clearance or loads of gear to move about most domestic jobs loaders are over kill

I Spose at the end of the day it's down to money and if you've got the work for it to earn it's keep
