Curriculum Team Leader – Horticulture & Floristry
Salary £34,156.00 - £38,629.00 per annum
This rapidly growing subject area combines first class teaching with use of the extensive facilities on the College estate including landscaped areas, arboretum, specialist gardens and extensive lawns and a commercially operated garden centre to provide an unrivalled student experience.
Due to our continued growth in students wishing to study for qualifications in horticulture and related subjects we now seek an innovative, experienced and self-motivated teacher to make a significant contribution to a team of staff delivering courses from entry level to degree and post-graduate qualifications. A key focus of this post will be the driving of standards in delivery and maximising the potential of our students by working with our grounds maintenance and commercial teams.
Applicants will ideally have at least 3 years full-time teaching experience together with sound administrative skills. You will have a grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent). A formal teaching qualification is essential and a Graduate or Higher National level qualification will be a distinct advantage in the relevant discipline of Horticulture or Floristry. A period of relevant industrial experience is a pre-requisite of appointment to this post.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• The lecturing and training of students and other client groups to quality standards set by the College.
• The tutoring and management of one or more courses or groups of students.
• The development, recruitment and monitoring of all Horticulture and Floristry related courses.
• The effective deployment, appraisal and management of staff within the area.
• To act as a subject specific mentor to new and developing staff
• To teach students attending full-time, part-time and short courses as directed by the Head of Faculty.
• To act as a course tutor to full-time and part-time groups with the associated recruitment, organisation, administration, and monitoring of attendance including the collection of data for course evaluation.
• To counsel students and maintain discipline as required.
• To participate in the recruitment of students, including attendance at Shows and Careers Conventions.
• To interview applicants for Horticulture; Floristry and related courses.
