  1. Hey all, as the title suggests I'm currently looking for a new hoover (for sweeps on 3 flues plus regular Esse 990 and Froling S4 servicing) I've had a couple in the past but even though designed to cope with soot neither really stepped up to the mark and soon lost their suck. Thought this maybe a good place to ask for recommendations before trawling a market I know nothing about Many thanks, Matt
  2. He's running the 18" it came with, working for a local firewood guy plus our own firewood which feeds our Esse, Woodwarm and most recent Froling S4 turbo 40 as well as a couple of glamping units.
  3. ok thought it'd be nice to update this thread nearly a year on.... ...my lad did indeed save up from his weekend job and is now the very proud owner of a 562xp (and a Protos helmet and a new pair of arbortec trousers)
  4. Thanks again bud, we did pop to a dealer on Sat and had a look at some echos but he's now decided to be patient and save from this new weekend job until he can afford a saw he doesn't have to upgrade too quickly
  5. Sorry my bad, I should have been more specific, more recently manufactured Mark2's have been having issues. Allegedly since country of manufacture changed???
  6. Thanks Brushcutter, good to hear a trainers point of view. Not sure if full time cutting is on the cards and also and a massive hindrance at the moment is our budget! Hoping not to be laughed off the forum but it looks like all we will be able to afford is maybe a 435 or similar.
  7. Yes it is an XP, few years old now. Heard recently that the newer versions are proving troublesome???
  8. Thanks for the replies guys, jury's stilhl out! Will let you know
  9. Hey all, I currently run a 550 and a 390 and am looking for suggestions for an entry level saw for my 16 year old son. He's a sensible lad and just started a weekend job helping a local forester. Rightly or wrongly I've always said he needs to get some proper training before he can use our saws but as he's now getting that I think it's time for him to have his own. All advice welcome Regards, Matt
