  1. Help?? We sell hardwood at £60 a ton But if I was to sell at per cubic meter (stacked wood) what would the price be? I've got so confused by the ton to cubic meter conversions!!! Marie xx
  2. The rules strangely have not yet been set in stone so no one can give a clear answer at present, but yes you can burn whatever you want just don't expect to get any subsidy from the government for it...? We think those that become certified can jack up the price of product whilst also being able to offset costs so long as you tow the government line. Rumors are circulating that they want to enforce similar rules on small and medium log merchants also but like I say it's not very clear right now.
  3. Hi yep be very happy to just email me ur contact details (address is at the top of the post) and we will have a natter x
  4. Spot on Kevin, I just spoke with the buyer myself as I am trying to understand the very confusing RHI thing myself. Basically the customer is setup for RHI payments and from his calculation he should save around 30% doing it as you have suggested, and seems to think he has got a good deal so much so he wants to use my cousin again next year. And fore the record the landowners agent simply refuses to let the timber go for less than 85 a ton ( I know as I tried to convince him to lower it myself, he quickly put me in my place about it :'-( ) X
  5. Hi we are about to start a 8 week job in the next few days all the timber is spoken for from that job, but we have a four week job strait after 36/40 ton maybe slightly lower quality but ok for firewood market, oak, berch and some ash 8/15 inch dia. I know my brother wants between 40/50 a ton for it at roadside east Cornwall.if that's of any help...? Marie x
  6. My cousin just sold his load to a customer at 85 per ton and customer wants a few more at that price...? I like everyone else thinks the price is to high to be sustainable so why are people so desperate that they will pay the new RHI price...? Seems a little sinister to me. Strike me that the timber market maybe a little like the housing market everybody knows there's a problem yet the prices keep climbing!
  7. It does seem to be two separate issues combining to drive the price higher I feel both uneasy about the government overstretch and the effect it may have on the small independent guys And I also think the Americans should engage brain before engaging in a manhood swinging contest with the Russians -.- especially if it costs me even more to fill up my little car ! Lol x
  8. I agree the big company's will do well and the small guys will have to work even harder which seems a shame I can understand the timber prices creeping up linked to costs and overheads providing that cost creep runs right from land owner throw me and down to the firewood merchant and eventually the end customer. But the RHI system will surely just split the natural flow of business up by slapping regulations on hard working chaps ( I can hear my brother telling the gov to go screw themselves over it already) Seems like too much pen pushing and far to little real trade if you ask me x
  9. I guess that makes sense sounds like Russia is about to give the west a good kicking, is it not a really bad idea to bite the hand that feeds you...? Or am I just having a blonde moment lol x
  10. Yes all firewood some spoke of having paid more money recently. Not sure how various ppls profit works out but I can tell you I was swamped with emails for a few days x
  11. Thats what I am trying to find out, my cousin told me a price for his cord and I thought wow that has to be the top of the market surely! So I made few calls to some land agent friends and they all confirmed 80-85 a ton was the figure that they would be aiming for post RHI compliance, they also explained to me that most large estates have had a tip that oil and gas prices are about to rocket due to the almost certain choking off of supply to the west of Russian oil and gas, some predict a huge spike in timber demand hence the preemptive price hike I guess...? I am a little confused by it all tbh can Russian oil and gas have that much affect on timber price...?
  12. I may be a little bit green about the timber business but this RHI thing seems to be bad news for everyone! Everyone I have spoken to says it will only jack the price of timber products higher and probably price many out of the industry :-( I mean the price of timber surprises me tbh and I don't really understand why the government are poking there nose into the industry...? especially as by the sounds of things it will just make people's life harder with more senseless red tape! What do you guys think...? As most of you will be the first victims I'd of thought. Marie x
  13. Advertising this for my cousin (so not our lads on the job) 250 ton of nice quality clean hard wood cord available road side late next week, north of Hastings Mainly oak ash and a little elm Cut 15 months ago 85 per ton minimum (complies with new RHI rules hence higher price) Email me for details [email protected] or [email protected] Cheers Marie x
  14. Hi carpenter1 yes all spoken for now at 60per ton, it went very quickly tbh and surprisingly some of it is being trucked a couple of hundred miles away x
