  5. Seem to have developed a wrist injury maybe from using the chainsaw alot. Does anyone know of some specific exercises to strengthen the wrists. Maybe its the vibration that has caused it but more likely the angles of operation under pressure. Its mainly in the left wrist, but in the right a little as well. cheers gary

  7. Thanks for all the input Looks like it is the cherry tree then. After this suggestion i have traweled through loads of pictures on line and in books and there discriptions. they seem to match the bark. Just goes to show, if you dont know, ask the question, someone will. Cheers Gary
  8. Yes it is, all the same tree. It's the only one in the wood that I have seen with that bark. It's about 5 metres from the edge. Cheers Sent from my GT-I9100P using Tapatalk 2
  9. sorry wrong shot!!!!!!!!!!!! that was in gambia:001_smile:
  10. Ok, so here are some more pictures. The trunk about 3 feet up the tree is 16" across. There is also a photo of some of the leaves at the base of the tree and my wife is about 5' 6" tall. Cant get all of the tree in the picture to show its true hieght but its got to be at least 25 metres at least. My wife has her hand on the tree in the last shot. Also in the last shot it is the only tree in the wood with those bark markings. The rest of the wood has, chesnut, elm, beech, oak, sycamore.
  11. Hmm seems size does matter :-) will check it
  12. Thanks alot for that, Head down and get through these courses then!!!!! Cheers
  13. I have this small (but getting bigger) business and aside from public liability insurance, i was wondering if i can get get an insurance that covers all my needs, and who to get it from, this is what i do.... General gardening (brush cutting and grass cutting). Hedge trimming. Tree felling (ground work) Logging Log splitting Wood chipping Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Currently our work load involves a cleaning business, decorating and this gardening business. Pardon the pun but i want to grow the gardening side of things. I am doing the CS30/31 next month so want to start getting serious. Thanks Gary
  14. Bought a husky 338xpt 12" bar to go with my makita dcs520 and a ryobi for odd work. I love the makita and the ryobi is a back up saw. Hopefully get to use the husky next week when I am back to work. Sent from my GT-I9100P using Tapatalk 2
  15. going back there this afternoon. I will post shots tonight. I will take a better camera cause those were taken on a mobile phone. A tape measure for the trunk width, my wife can stand beside it to get an idea of the hieght. She is not a midget though Cheers Gary
  16. I am going back to the woods tomorrow, i will try to get a decent shot of the canopy but with the other trees so close and mixing with it, i should think it would be difficult to pick it out with a photo, but lets try. Its difficult aswell to pick out the dead leaves on the ground cause they are mixed in with everything else. I will see if i can find Aspen leaves underneath.
  17. I am new to this forum and just learning my trees. I am stuck on this one though. It is about 30 mts tall, shapped a bit like an elm, kind of silver birch bark at the bottom, but as you go up the tree it has rings around it close together and the rings are like ridges (positive). The foliage you can see is nothing to do with this tree, it is bare. Can anyone help. I am down in south devon near the coast if that helps and the tree is in a wood that is occupied with beach and elm mainly
