  1. Thanks for the feedback fellas. I will check out the Husky and compare. Quite a few BR600s with low hours on e bay which makes me wonder why people want to sell them with only slight use.
  2. Im looking for a late used BR600 Magnum blower. Just wondering if anyone has compared these up against the Echo PB770 or Redmax 8500? Reviews seem to say the 600 needs the valves adjusted every 100 hours but the Magnum version has updated valves and doesnt require such frequent maintenance. I guess the Echo and Redmax are a simpler design at the end of the day but the Stihl looks light and quite. What shall I go for fellas?
  3. Took the saw back today and the chap took it apart. Two small metal fragment fell out of the cylinder. There was no sign of any damage to the new piston, rings, or barrel. He inspected the crank and bearings etc and all are sound. He thinks they might of got in through the exhaust as that is the only item he didnt initially take apart. The fragments look like old piston to me. Anyway he took the exhaust apart, cleaned it up and reasembled the saw. Its back up and running now:001_smile: Thanks for all the input guys.
  4. Shush, dont give anymore away. I thought the coverage was also poor, alright for the anoraks I guess but I thought Parrish and Cox brought the whole experience to the masses. As a result even my Sister now understands the benifits of anti wheelie control:001_smile: Great race though, and would have thought that "ooops sorry" would have gone down so early.
  5. Thanks mate Ive bookmarked that.
  6. Barrel and piston, with free prawn cracker, 52 squid!
  7. The rotor is sitting on the key shaft as it should. Its not the rotor as the cranshaft still jams with the rotor removed. It can be heard banging against something when turned. Whatever it is its a full stop clockwise or anti clockwise. Ive only looked at the piston through the plughole and doesnt look damaged. I reckon Ritch could be right. The circlip has come out and maybe the pin. Will be up to what the saw is worth if I have to pay out again!
  8. In one way I hope your right Ritch as he would be obliged to supply and fit another barrel and piston as Ive only used it for a day or so since getting it back. I know they werent genuine Stihl parts but was assured the pattern stuff were as good as. Will take it back tomorrow and see what transpires. Thanks for your input lads.
  9. The pull cord is ok. I took the rotor off the crankshaft end to make sure it wasnt fouling anything. Put the nut back on the shaft and it will only turn with a socket the same amount as with the rotor on. I was thinking myself it might be the piston circlip come adrift but wouldnt that just fall into the crankcase without fouling the crankshaft?
  10. No the pull cord only comes out about 4 inches once only.(the one revolution) of the rotor and then stays stuck. It doesnt start as its not fully turning over. The piston goes up and down as to the one revolution with the plug in or out. Not sure if the new piston/barrel were not fitted correctly or if its just coincidence that its happened directly after the repair. Dont want to lay blame where its not due.
  11. Just had a new piston and barrel fitted to my 020t. It worked fine for a day or so then went to start it and the pull cord had stuck. Took the cover of and the rotor will only turn one revolution both ways. It sounds like the crank is banging on something. The piston is going up and down with the plug out so wondering if anyone got any ideas before I take it back to the repairer. Many thanks.
