Lantra Awards is a leading awarding organisation for land-based training and qualifications. We are seeking applications on a contractual basis from forestry and arboricultural specialists with strong people skills to be a part of our team of external verifiers. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Lantra to set the standards in our instructor and assessor network. To be considered you should: • be a Lantra Awards approved instructor for forestry and/or arboriculture • be technically proficient in either forestry and/or arboriculture • be committed to high technical standards in the industry • be able to make judgements about performance in others • be able to give advice and guidance about your area of expertise to others • be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing • hold relevant qualifications and training • hold or working towards relevant trainer/assessor awards and experience of training/assessment • maintain a high level professionalism in conduct and service • considerable experience in forestry and/or arboriculture Duties will include: • ensuring that training and/or assessment is carried out in accordance with any requirements set by Lantra and to the best industry standards. • that instructors technical and instructional ability is monitored where training is the object of verification • participating in standard setting and implementing the agreed standards • monitoring performance to consistent standards and raising actions or sanctions if necessary • undertaking administrative tasks such as report writing within specified timescales How to Apply For an application pack please see our website Lantra - External Verifier London/South East - Forestry & Arboriculture Closing Date 6th June 2014 Interviews will be held 12th June 2014

Standards Verifier – Forestry and Arboriculture Part Time (30-40 days per year) Self-employed with service contract rates to be agreed The Opportunity Lantra Awards is a leading Awarding Organisation for land-based training and qualifications. We are seeking a self-employed partner with strong leadership, influencing and negotiating skills and knowledge of the forestry and/or arboricultural industry to lead on the application of quality assurance standards for training and assessment in trees and timber. Who we’re looking for: Applications are sought from candidates who have an industry background in forestry and/or arboriculture, rather than a training or academic background. To be considered you must: • hold significant credibility through professional conduct and commitment to the industry • have relevant, up-to-date knowledge of the industry • demonstrate leadership skills and assertiveness • demonstrate commitment to continual professional development and undertake any necessary training to maintain the role • have excellent skills in building and managing effective working teams • have excellent communication skills (written and spoken). Duties will include: • developing and leading the team verifying training and assessment carried out by Lantra Awards instructors and assessors • supporting, monitoring and evaluating the External Verifiers to ensure that training and assessment is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Lantra Awards and to the best industry standards • providing advice on the development of new products and services.
