  1. one of my colleagues has cs30, cs31, cs38 and cs39 and that is all that is required for him to climb for the forest of dean forestry commission and i always thought they where really strict, there basic chainsaw maintenance and felling like a cs30/31 is a lot more difficult
  2. Hey new here but been using the forum for advice and to see the way others do things, any way i was wondering if the cs38 and cs39 requirements have changed since around 2008, 2009, i started work with a company with out qualifications, , long story short i did my chainsaw certificate and assessment but about a year after starting, i then did the cs38 and cs39 courses privately and never got round to the assessments but have worked since, got around it with the foresty commission etc as my co-worker is a NPTC instructor, loler inspector, The Arboricultural Associations Technical Certificate in Arboriculture. Tech.Cert.(Arbor.A) and LANTRA registered instructor so was always supervised, he and a friend/colleague taught me and did my courses respectively, he seems to think as long as i read up on the technical questions such as how much slack are you allowed in your system, and emergency planning etc.... i would be able to do the assessments, when i did my cs 38 course i did basic climbing, and only 2 rescues type A and B (1 and 2?) with climbers rope intact, and another on just my climbing line, attached bridge to bridge, lanyard sling and a blakes hitch attached from his harness to my line, and didn't do pole rescue the instructor said i wouldn't need to do it, just tell him how i would do it, but i think maybe that is how they (these particular instructors) would do it, but companies vary, and iv'e read lately standards and requirements have changed....sorry for the long winded post
