  1. Yes I know me! It was only the size of a cup. I should of been using a larger saw on smaller bits of wood. That's by the by now what's been done been done. Thanks
  2. Was a metal visor. Thanks for comments. If the timber was bigger it wouldn't of span. Cutting as fine! The timber wasn't stable so caused kick back! If the chain brake was working! I would of been ok. Thanks ashley
  3. Thanks for all your comment guys, it was a stihl ms290, I am silly to have used a dodgy saw as I own around 9 chainsaw.. In good working order! I should of used a 170 to chop. The small logs up with. The 290 had to much power forcing the timber to spin which resulted in kick back. The skin peeled right back in 3 places! No the best way to draw a close to a Friday eve! I'll post another picture in around 8 weeks to show the healing process! Big learning curve anyhow! At least I have a story to tell ah! I always wondered would a saw really cut me lol yes fresh is no comparison to wood. Speak soon ashley.
  4. Face guards are to stop saw dust and minor bits of wood! That's all! ;( they could be addressed though yes! If my chain brake wasn't broke it would of worked!
  5. Yeah a minor part. Needed to order one. I can't believe what a fool I've been. It's the spring that holds the brake in place! So it's a major bit of the operation. I'm still alive. And hopefully the scaring will be minimal. Although I am hoping for a miracle
  6. Think I might do that!!! Just the spring in the brake was broken. Wish I could turn back the hands. But can't cry over spilt milk can I. It's a couple of scares we are men, cheers ashley
  7. Maybe I am too honest for my own good! I will learn the a very valuable lesson from this I guess! Once again I appreciate all the positive criticism, cheers ashley
  8. :001_smile:Yes it was 90% my fault and I appreciate your advice! I'll take it as a lesson
  9. 2 years In the game! I was low to the ground with the saw too I am a baby in the sport
  10. Thanks pal. No stiches tk my amazement other than bufferflys! Omg ran into the house looked in the mirror! Oh dear skin peeled right back in 3 places! Put saw, axe and fuel back in the truck! Then off to a&e ;(
  11. I was logging in front of me to be honest, it all happened that fast! Some power in those saws! We underestimate them at times! Well me at least! It's a good job it was a 290 and not an 880. However if I was logging timber it wouldn't of happened! It was the small logs spinning causing the saw to kickback
  12. Hi guys I appreciate all the kinds thoughts and gestures! So if I don't reply to them all! Sorry! So gutted about today! I wouldn't mind I was finished work at 1 to then come home to shower, to go out and help a friend for free ;( then that bad episode ;(
  13. Please don't mention the word break. Me like a fool broken the chain brake only the other day ;(.... And like a fool used the saw with the broke. Chain brake! Thought I'd be ok as I was stood still, I am pretty sure that the brake would of came on before it him my face! ;( very angry with my self ;(
