  2. Small woodland owners buy for a whole other set of reasons too. Wildlife fans, bushcrafters and/or DIY firewood people, many who get there own chainsaw tickets. Cheers
  3. I own a small part of an ancient wood, im currently restoring the PAWs parts of it. I wouldnt sell it for any sort of development. I know many small woodland owners who feel the same way.

  5. Hi Saw is a brand new husky 365 Oil fuel is 50:1 Plug has blue spark and is gaped correctly This saw will not start with the decompression button in. It will only start if you dont press the button in What am I doing wrong. The manual says to press in the button. Is the saw ok, does it need to go back. Cant ask dealer questions as they are shut at the moment Cheers
  6. Im trying to understnad what makes a timber quality Larch tree DBH around 40cm TD from 15cm upto around 40cm & Straight. How straight to they have to be. Dead straight, or are is the odd kink allowed for example some of the trees I have, have flaws around 18m up. At what height are forks ok ? Cheers
  7. Far too much effort if im wanting to sell a load though
  8. How builder bags out of a cord of round wood ? Can somebody check my maths ? Cord 4ft x 4ft x 8ft Builderbag 850x850x850 (0.6m3) 1 cord = 3.63m3 solid 1 cord = 3.63m3 solid or 5.8m3 loose (based on 1m3 solid = 1.6m3 loose) So 5.8m3 loose = 9 or 10 builderbags (0.6m3) Please can someone point out any errors or give a better estimate Also is one cord softwood wet around 2.6tons ? Cheers
  9. Hi Chris Could you explain why over 40cm TD is not top grade. Is TD the same as 40cm DBH? If not what is TD ? What is the range in cm for top grade larch Cheers
  10. Once the plans is finalised ill be happy to post exact details and people would be welcome to come and look at it
  11. Its a small wood around 6acres Not all the wood is larch, theres is a mixed stand, a larch stand and a hardwood stand. I want to remove the larch or at least some of it because its an ancient wood (PAWS), and putting hardwoods back in would be good.
