  1. This is the point I was trying to make just not as eloquently as you have. thankyou
  2. but wouldn't it be nice if we could buy the saw in the uk have the spare £50 to spend on beer and pies and the shop that sold it to you had made a fair profit.
  3. Hi Barry sorry for not responding earlier, work has kept me away from the computer. its on ebay being sold by slee, I quoted the price they sell at, I didnt mean to be misleading in any way. Total cost with postage and import duties makes it £454.49 delivered to my door. I think in the age of a global economy retailers should be able to make a reasonable profit and still be competitive on pricing. Maybe I should be badgering Husqvarna UK to give you guys a better deal. I take your point regarding any warranty claim, and and a 2 year warranty has a value that I haven't factored into the cost. I enjoy playing with engines so it's not as big a concern for me as it may be for others. I'm happy to pay the £530 or so that some dealers are offering I just think that you should all be able to offer that price and still make a decent profit, after all I don't work for free and neither should you, as the customer I just want the best deal I can get so I can have my jetski and 40 foot yacht in the med.
  4. I'm sure there is very little profit in the machinery and I don't think that £500 or so is an outrageous price, far from it when you consider the quality of the product is so high, it's more that I was shocked that the same saw presumably made to the same quality could be bought from a shop in the US, imported to the UK and cost me around the same price that a UK shop is paying for it. Husqvarna must be almost giving them away in the US.
  5. £725 is the list price on Husqvarna UK's website. spares and consumables are reasonably priced compared to other shops and the internet, a mate of mine went to them for a lawn mower and found pretty much the same story, list price and not much movement even though he has an account with them and has been going there for years, I don't know if he just isn't getting the discounts from his suppliers so simply can't compete with the online retailers. That's why I started the thread, to see if there's a simple explanation as to why there is such disparity in prices
  6. Completely agree with you on the local dealer support, I get spares from him as do the guys I work with. the price was for a 550xp on display in the shop, I didn't ask if he'd do a deal on it as I figured he wasn't going to knock over £200 off.
  7. I'm wondering where the increase in cost comes from, is it the retail outlets buying from husky UK and selling to us at a huge profit or are husky UK making the big money?
  8. Sound reasoning, the 550xp is around £330 in the US, the best deal I've found here is £505 I didn't think market share and exchange rate would result in such a big difference.
  9. I've always wondered why my wallet smells of wet dog.
  10. I'm just wondering how come it's possible to buy a 550xp from the US have it shipped to the UK, pay import fees and still save over £60 compared to the best price I've seen for the same saw in the UK. I'm not ranting, just wondering why dealers in the US can offer better prices than dealers over here?
