  1. Hi Mark, I just found this thread - what a couple of days they were! I had a lot of fun planking that, fairly tedious walking that mill up a 44' butt though! Those boards were well worth all that hard work. I'm not sure that i will get the chance to plank anything like this ever again. I can't wait until June when those boards come out of the kiln.
  2. That HSE list looks very inviting! we are doomed whichever wood we work with then! I didn't get dehydrated at all, come to think about it i processed a big Cedar a few yrs back and never had a problem. I do however remember getting a bit bored of the smell, as is the case now - my whole kiln and drying shed smell lovely (apparently!) i'm a bit over it, but other visitors tell me its amazing!
  3. Poplar - smells of fox pee! Hate milling the stuff! Actually - I HATE the stuff period!
  4. Hi Rover, Yep, had on a mask all day, every day! Just me then. I have never had a problem with other timbers. oh, lad who used to work for me used to get a rash on his fore arms form ash dust... very strange! Thanks for the tip on the fire wood - glad to hear it, i was hoping that it had not been processed in vein.
  5. Hi all, This is my first post - i've been a regular reader of posts for many years, but only just got around to joining, anyway.. Is it just me or does anyone else get a booming headache when milling cedar of lebanon? I have cut approx 320 cu ft of quarter sawn boards out of one tree and processed 7 ton of cord to firewood - taken a good few days but i got some amazing timber out of it - x 54 QS 22" boards 14' long and clean as a whistle! I'm guessing the headache is penance for the beautiful boards! Also, if i'm getting these headaches then i'm guessing the firewood is probably not a great idea to sell for open fires! Any thoughts?
