  1. Bailer twine! Iv used it for many many things! I have even used it to lash a leaf spring and axel together as a 'get me home' fix and if you braid several strands together, you will be amazed what you can tow with it lol! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Not to sure of this is the correct place for this post but here goes.... Done a search but didn't find what I was after. Was wondering what all you guys keep your chainsaw tools in? By this I mean your files, screnches, gauges, grease etc etc.... I was looking for a small toolbox that could be put in my rucksack or whatever but all the 'small' toolboxes iv looked at are plasticky 'diy' look at it and break type of things. Any help much appreciated! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Thanks for the reply. Although I'm not really in a hurry to sell it, I just thought selling as collection only would narrow the market a lot!? Anyone got an idea of what it could be worth? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Hello. Due to a new saw purchase this coming weekend. I need to start thinking about selling a saw to help pay for it. The trouble is, I don't know what it's worth. Iv looked on eBay for a price guide but they seem to either be dreamers asking way to much, or old battered saws. The saw in question is my old stihl 039. Pretty good overall condition and has a muffler mod done. It also has a pretty new sugihara 16" bar on it. There's pics in a thread I did called 'my muffler mod' Any advise on how much to ask for it would be great. Also, I'm thinking about selling it on eBay. The thing I'm concerned about is although it runs spot on, what if I sell it on eBay and the buyer complains that it's broken (due to him using wrong fuel or whatever)? Where does that leave me? How can I prove it was A1 when I sent it? Sorry for all the questions, any help appreciated! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Thank you for all of your input lads, much appreciated. Some good ideas mentioned and things I hadn't thought about. It seems that my biggest hurdle at the moment is sourcing supplies of timber at good prices. From experience, what are the best ways of doing this? Thanks, Andy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Thanks for the input. I'm in south-east Kent and from what I can tell from doing an Internet search, the price per m3 is anywhere between £65 and £80. Some include delivery and others charge extra. Thanks, Andy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Thanks for the reply. At the moment kit is limited, saws, axes and such. But being on a farm I have access to tractors, trailers, telehandler etc... It did cross my mind to get a splitter to run on the tractor, but again, I don't want to spend the cash if the return is slim? Basically I'm after a boost in earnings over the winter so if I can cover costs and my own time I'd be happy. I'm not looking to make a career out of logs, more of a supplement if that makes sense? Thanks again, Andy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Hello all. I'm thinking about going into the firewood business as a sideline to my farming through the winter. First of all, is this a crazy idea? My thoughts were to acquire timber and split it with the intention of marketing it for next year. Iv got space available should I want it and could start taking timber immediately. At the moment I don't have any supply of wood and was wondering what is the best way to go about this? Iv seen various websites offering timber 'roadside' for varying amounts of money per ton. But knowing very little about it makes this all quite confusing. Are there better and cheaper ways of getting timber? This isn't something I want to rush into and lose a load of money so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Andy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Thanks for the comments Still undecided weather to cut the end of the pipe back at an angle or not? My mate liked it so much he wants me to do his 346 and 372 next lol Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Hi all, I don't post much on here, more of a reader, but thought id share the muffler mod I just did on my old 039. I know it's probably not of much interest to most, but when I was trying to search for pictures to give me ideas on what I could do, I struggled to find any. So I thought by posting this it might give some help to anyone else who wants to do a mod on the 029 or 039. Basically I didn't really want to do the standard opening up of stock holes, so the welder came out The pics say it all really; I think the saw sounds really good now and I feel it's given her a bit more umph! I gave the saw to richard (GTR) for a tune up after it was done and he's done a spot on job. Seems to be running better than it ever has! (Thanks again Rich) Anyways, hope this may be of help to someone one day lol Andy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
