  1. Hi, guys I just wanted to update the thread. I've plumped for the FM16 from Forrest Master. It seems like the prefect tool for my job and a step up from the rather standard stuff thats to be around. I'll report back on how it handles the large rounds of oak and elm that it will soon have to tackle. Cheers all, Devs.
  2. Thanks for all the replies gents, appreciated. Its encouraging to hear that some folk have had successes with machines around this price point. I'll continue my research tomorrow and hopefully find something that will server me for a few years. Cheers!
  3. Hi there I just wanted to ask how you are finding the Forest Master FM16T? I'm in the market for a splitter around this price range and this is the machine that caught my eye.. Many thanks, Steve.
  4. Thanks, yes I've taken a look at screwfix/machine mart/ b&q's offerings but do not know if they are worth buying or not. I just thought it would be worth posting here to see if anyone has / uses a spliter for around this price point thats good. The Forest Master, read well too me but again I've never heard of them or know if they are any good. Trying to get away from the axe now Jon, but appreciate where you are coming from mate.
  5. This is the one that caught my eye and falls into my price bracket: Forest Master's FM16T 8 Ton Duocut Electric Hydraulic Log Splitter Splits Like 16 Ton
  6. Ha, already got a love but getting a little lazy. Am I best to revisit when I have more cash available. Are all machine in the price bracket junk? Thanks.
  7. Yeah I did suspect that to be honest! Just basically after the best that I can buy for the money that I have available. So 2nd hand would definatly be a consideration. It for home use to feed an 8kw burner.
  8. Hi all, I've decided to take the plunge and purchase an electric log splitter. I've got around £400 - £500 to spend on one and just wanted to ask peoples advice on here prior to making a purchase. Is there any that shine above the others that I should be considering? Many thanks in advance. Steve.
