  2. Hi Jay That’s very informative, thank you very much for your reply. NPTC route is the way forwards methinks. Thanks again Ad
  3. Hi all I've been asked to inspect some Cobra bracing today and although we know what we are doing, I’m not qualified to inspect or re-brace the tree in question. Is there a qual for bracing and if so, does it cover inspection of historic braces? Many thanks in advance Ad
  4. In south east London. It'll be refreshing. We would have to upscale ground and aerial, which for 4 people would cost a small fortune. I think upscaling is great if you are paying for yourself. If you're paying to upscale a group, it's remortgage territory! Both have merits relative to the size of company or the individual etc. I was gutted when I realised we need to refresh or upscale, but the more I look at it, the more I think that any training, be it refresher or upscale can only reduce accidents. It certainly won't increase them. As a business owner, that pacifies me somewhat. Will be upscaling down the line though!
  5. Thank you all for your comments. So basically if we can refresh through a one dayer, great. If not, get new tickets. Great. I guess an aerial course like 41 will be ideal. Thanks again!
  6. Hi All Just had our sub contractor assessment form bounced back to us, as all our NPTC tickets are older than 5 years. Our H&S chap has said that getting CHAS is going to be difficult without refresher training. Is this correct and if so, what's the cheapest way of going about it? We all hold 30,31,38 and 39. One of us has 41. There are 4 of us in total. Has anyone had similar issues and how did they find the most cost effective way to overcome? Many thanks Ad
  7. Hi there I assumed they were one and the same. Basically I don't want to employ any more staff, but bring in people who can work alongside us, be it with their own set up or not. They would therefore have to be self employed. My insurance is set up for myself and the chaps I employ, so anyone else will need to have their own insurance. Adam
  8. The work ranges from small domestic up to large commercial, and everything inbetween. We don't take on council contracts and we don't deviate from arboriculture, ie: gardening and landscaping etc Adam
  9. Hi Rich We have £5,000,000 public liability, but if your a subby working for us then you won't be covered, hence why I need any sub contractors to have their own policy. Adam
  10. Hi there 5:30am is the earliest we generally leave for work, but had to put it in as the baseline. We work all over London and the surrounding counties, so I prefer to get to site without rush hour! After 15 years in the game I'm sick of inside lane in traffic jams! Adam
  11. Hi all, We are a small firm with too much work! I need to find a climber and groundsman that have the following: Clean license and have own transport for driving to the yard as there are no buses! Reliable Happy to start work early and finish early (5:30am - 2:30pm) Own public liability insurance (minimum £5,000,000) Climber NPTC Certs: CS 30/31 38/39 Groundsman NPTC Certs: CS 30/31 First Aid trained More pay if you want to use your own truck and chipper although the truck must not be signwritten. Many thanks Adam 07966 327 419
  12. It's a pain when the new oil caps get stuck or don't close properly, but I still prefer them to the old caps. I've lost count of the combi spanners I've lost!
