  1. Hi, I know it's not the right time of year for coppiced wood but does anybody have the following? Approx 800 feet of 4 inch (give or take an inch) hazel or ash? I need them at 10 inches in length but will obviously take them in longer lengths. I also could do with approx 500 of 3/4 inch rods. And finally, looking for hundreds of logs, 20 inches in length 5 to 8 inches in diameter. Must be clean, no damage to the bark and preferably limb free. Based in S Wales but have transport and willing to travel a reasonable distance. Please get in touch if you think you can help. Thanks
  2. Great stuff, just what I wanted to hear, thanks
  3. Can anyone here tell me how well the bark on larch stands up after the tree is cut? I make rustic animals and can get hold of a fair bit of larch but I need the bark to remain intact for up to a year, do you think it will or is it likely to come away sooner than that? It will be kept outdoors so will remain relatively green. I've had a look at some that has been cut over a year ago and the bark is coming away but it has been kept under a tarpaulin sheet so that may have had something to do with that. Thanks
  4. How about visiting a few allotments in the area? They are always glad of woodchip down here. Mike
  5. Thanks SMG, I've had contact from a couple of people here so hopefully they can help but you're in the frame ;O) Thanks
  6. At the moment I pay £1.50 for a pair from a guy in between Usk and Chepstow, Stuart Hodges.
  7. Morning all, first time poster here so please be gentle. I am looking to obtain a large quantity of green logs for a craft project I will be starting hopefully quite soon. The species is not important but the logs need to have undamaged bark and need to be in the following approximate sizes. 18 - 24 inches long x 6 - 8 inches in diameter and 10 - 12 inches long x 4 - 6 inches in diameter. I have a van and can collect within a 50 mile radius of Newport so we're talking Swansea, Brecon, Hereford, top of the M50/M5 area and over the bridge as far as Wiltshire. I have been getting them locally but unfortunately the guy has now run out of timber for the time being. If anybody here can help I'd be grateful if they could get in touch. There is no need for them all in one go as I will be fitting it in around everything else during the year but would want a ton at a time to make it worth the trip. Thanks very much, Mike
