Check the deeds for covenants. After 5 years in my last yard, neighbour sent the owners a letter giving one week to clear everything within one meter of the boundary.
A "friendly" letter before he took us to court.Yep, check the deeds. Most will say you can't operate a business from a residential address or park commercial vehicles, etc, however in reality a lot of folk do without any problems... just pays to know in advance, just in case.

It is my point - I wouldn't want a medal for what We do but I would want our skills valued ( including by our employers ) and a pay rate that reflects that - or otherwise you may as well drive a Tescoes van for the money some companies pay , K
I'm not sure that the money is everything.. Most people I know in the industry are there because they want to be and don't want to work indoors or drive all day for a living...

groundy rates should be based on regional house prices - so in Birmingham you won't need as much as Guildford. Save up and move to Burnley and buy a mansion. A groundie in Bulgaria where a house can be had for £10k should be on no more than £40 a day. The London groundie needs £250 a day to save for a deposit on a broom cupboard
This is so true.. Its amazing that the same person can travel around the country and be paid different rates for doing the exact same thing.....

40K profit is very possible on 70K... If you're working mostly on your own then your overheads, insurance/fuel/repairs, etc are low.. A long time ago I easily managed over 40K profit on 80K turnover running a gardening business as a sole trader.

I've seen these type of thing before.. Goodwill doesn't count for much... Signed contracts do..
Sell the assets for as much as you can... maybe as a job lot if you want a quick sale.. Your client list might mean that your job lot of kit will be more attractive.. however I purchased a small gardening firm years ago and most of the clients weren't interested.. So the value for me was in the kit.
Good luck with your move..

Yes - brilliant chipper for a third of the price of a CS100 and just as GOOD. I have had two over priced CS100's and I prefer the Rock one + money in the bank
In the video the chipper was a brand new one.. What are they like after a weeks use? Can you buy replacement blades and how easy are they to change?

The car didn't block the entrance entirely as he got through. If it's an on going issue then put a sign up. Of course we walk past cars every day, cctv etc, but we don't photograph them and splash on all over a forum do we.
If it's a one off situation that a car parked close to his gate big deal, he got in found the owners, sorted.
Let's splash it all over a forum shall we.
While this OP's point was regarding the problem he faced on the day it also highlights the problem of random vehicles blocking gates/access when there is no need. We get it all the time and its very frustrating especially when you've journeyed to a job and can't get in.... It shows how obnoxious the public can be.. Regarding the number plate I presume you're joking? Number plates are everywhere, aren't they?

Shouldn't need to put a sign on an obviously used gate, would you park in a field entrance? His reg is public anyway, anybody on the street can see it as they walk past.
Well said..

It was this thread that got me worried, cheers for the info on towing capacity.

No problem... The truck in my avatar is my 3rd ranger since 2009... Haven't found a reason to change from FORD as yet....!

Ok so pulling down 2 willows over the last 2 days on a plot of rough land next to a path just behind a row of houses.
We took 11 bags of litter out that plot!
Granted it hadent been touched in donkeys years but wtf is wrong with people?
Theres 2 bins on this path one at either side..
Whats even more annoying is the amount of alcohol containers we took out the place-every possible alcohol vessel you can name we picked it and bagged it many times over.
We found the obligitory pair of nasty undies but alas no porn mags which is the norm hidden in bushes.
We often get our fair share of litter pickin once an area has been opened up but f#$k me this was unreal!
I just dont get people at times
Pisses me off
Thats people for you... there are some that live outside of societies rules and are happy to do so... There was an experiment done in Hyde Park where litter was cleared from one side and not the other..
'Disgust' as park litter experiment backfires | London Evening Standard
If we could put these people on their own island where they can happily live in their own filth....

Was looking at upgrading my 08 ranger to the new model. Didn't know of the issues till I searched through here.
Is it as bad as some members have found or were these vehicles just lemons?
I will be towing an Ifor williams 8x5 tipper a lot of the time so need at least 2.7t towing capacity.
What issues? None so far in 12K. I believe the new Ranger can tow 3.5T.

IMO subbing is a tricky game. You do all the work, get none of the credit and get moaned at If there is the slightest problem. If you can't deal with the main man, don't bother.

We have the same vehicle which like yours had a terrible handbrake.. Ended up being partially seized cables...

Hedge Trimmer Safety
in General chat
Posted
Hi,
Does anyone on here have a link to or can advise on specific required PPE when using hand held powered hedge trimmers, say a Stihl HS82? Today we were picked up on not having chain saw arrest trousers on by a H&S expert?
Any help much appreciated.
Paul.
