  1. Hi everyone, just wondered if you could give advice on the above scenario. What do you guys use to protect the upvc doorsteps which always look like they will just snap off?on another job I have used my 8ft ramps with some car inspection ramps connected to bridge the step, however the job i have coming up does not have the space to allow this! best solution? Thanks, Joe.
  2. Thanks everyone for your help, i will search some prices
  3. I am providing a quote to a customer for a site clearance close by to me. I have been asked to advise on a hedging material, evergreen which can be planted close enough to one another to make an instant hedge...red robin has been a suggestion- any other thoughts? It's an 18m stretch which he wants solid straight away and 2.4m high..., many thanks, Joe
  4. Looking to tip chip in or near Dorking. I run a small firm in Thanet. We are heading up to Dorking to carry out some work for my Uncle and his friend in a fortnight or so and would love to be able to tip some wood chip if possible? I'd be willing to pay for the convenience. Also might be a load of logs too. Maybe 2.5 loads of chip total on my trusty 3.5t Renault disaster so nothing major. Many thanks, Joe.
  5. I have spotted this fungus in an historic wound on an old Holmoak tree. May somebody identify this for me? Also what would be the best way for me to start learning about fungi id...I am a complete beginner when it comes to this. Any particular guides?? Many thanks, Joe
  6. Hi guys, going to see a second hand quad chip soon. I was thinking of buying brand new but can't resist saving around 6 or 7k...What are the main things, with quad chips in particular that I need to be checking for? cheers, Joe
  7. Hi everyone, I hope I am posting this in the right place! I have had a fb page for since I started on my own in Feb, which has bought in a lot of my work. Finally I have got round to creating a website using 'wordpress'. I am still altering it and adding pictures, but may you guys check it out and dish out some constructive criticism? 8. thank you for your reply! I will make some phone calls on monday morning! Joe
  9. Hi everyone, So happy with my husky battery top handle. No fumes, no idling, brilliant! Tried charging my batteries, which are both flat and the light labelled '4' in the manual (the battery icon light on the charger)flashes green intermittently but no charging occurs. Anybody experienced this or have any ideas of what to do? Thanks for any help! Joe
  10. Hi everyone. As pictured, an ash tree 3 metres from the customer's house and about 10cm from the customer's drive. The customer's drive is actually raised by around 10 inches where the ash roots are lifting it. I have put in an application to fell said tree (it has a tpo) however this work was denied permission. The council recommend the drive is built up higher with tarmac to create a smooth bump. My customer is very upset. Would you appeal against this decision and if so how would you go about it? or is there no leg to stand on? I would be interested to hear any opinions! joe. [/ATTACH]
  11. Interesting response, I just wanted to know if it was a recognised practise as I had never come across it before and it seemed interesting. Thanks for all of your replies!
  12. At 13:30 in this video, the climber makes a load of gob cuts and carries on climbing above them before using negative rigging on the stem, is it just my imagination or is this bad practice? Surely he stem is weakened considerably... [ame] [/ame]
  13. The extension beside it is a brilliant point, I have a feeling it is 10+years old so maybe a bit random for the tree to die back now?
  14. I think I have attached an image...sorry about the delay! Have had no success in finding out how I can get a soil sample tested for poison-any ideas?
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I was really happy with this tree and it came out beautifully in the spring. However in the last week it has dropped nearly 50%of its leaves. These leaves are mostly on the side of the prevailing wind... The only twist to this story is that my customer's neighbours do not like the tree and it is v.close to the boundary. Suckers on my customer's side of the fence are v.healthy but suckers on the neighbour's side were dead...furthermore they actually were wet at the time and it was a dry day. The neighbour could have been watering their flowers... I took a sample and have them in a bag. Is there any chance of poisoning? Any advice/ideas would be gratefully received!! Joe
