    Thanks for your input Rob D, but sharpening skills are not an issue. Its just that I came across 'How To Install A More Robust Bar & Chain On A Stihl Ms180, 170, 018, 017 Chainsaw' on Utube and was intrested in the benifits of the upgrade.

    Would you recommend a larger bar, as mine is short? If so which one.

    I have a Stihl 017. Will a Stihl chainbar 3005 000 4809 and chain 63 PM3 50 be a suitable upgrade for my chainsaw. IE: From current 0.43 to 0.50 gauge.
