  1. Elederid because it was the most comfortable next to the Tree magic in the shop. Still happy with it 12 months later.
  2. I was so chuffed today, felled the biggest tree I've felled yet. It was an over grown Birch that was about 24" diameter at the base and pretty tall. Luckily it was weighted the way I needed to fell it so not a technical job. I was a bit nervous doing it but it dropped perfectly and the hinge was dead square, wish I'd taken a picture now!
  3. I've got an Edelrid Treecore it's proper comfy!
  4. Thanks for your replies. Not sure if it's worth investing in a wire core flip line now, as I'm not on spikes yet. Any other advantages of using one as a lanyard instead of my rope one?
  5. I was thinking a getting myself a wire core flip line to use mainly as a lanyard to give me extra safety when cutting. To keep cost down is it acceptable to use it with a prusik or equivalent friction hitch and basic pulley rather than splash out on a rope grab? Cheers Merry Christmas everyone!
  6. I am an amateur climber and since I start climbing I have been using a Petzl Navaho harness. The more I climb and start hanging gear off the harness the more uncomfortable I am getting. I am thinking is it time to up grade to a proper Arborist specific harness. Is a proper arborist harness far better and more comfortable and worth spending the money????? Also wandered if it was worth buying a chest harness for my Navaho to take some load off the waist?
  7. Thanks for the advice, will check it out!
  8. My ms 200t has started to be a little hesitant to rev up. It starts and revs out ok and still cuts well but the slight delay on the throttle is annoying me. All the usuals seem ok eg filters, plug, fuel. Is this saw likely to need a carb kit?
  9. I have just acquired myself a Tirfor T516 winch (rated at 1600kg) but it has no handle. Can anyone tell me how long the handle should be so I can make one!
  10. I burn it in my clearview stove. Burns well as long as it is dry.
  11. Looking at getting myself a hand pole pruning saw and not sure what to buy. Would need it for ground to air light work and occasionally working in the tree off the climbing line. Is silky the only way to go or is there a more sensible or cost effective tool??
