  1. Thanks mate appreciate the warm welcome
  2. Thanks jamie, I wasn't to sure if there was any IRATA techniques involved tree climbing that's why I asked, glad to here it, another string to the bow
  3. Excellent mark thank you on the tips at looking at the private independent companies for training, I will have a look at them tonight, reference the books that was put on my Christ,as list so will see what he brings, even though I am not t home for Christmas this year
  4. Thanks James the positive response and also the positive replies I read off the other posts are very comforting when I am deciding to make the jump
  5. Stubby, thanks for the quick reply, I have been out the paras a few years now but they do say it is bread into you and can't get it out, well hopefully I am positive and also excited with a possible change in career that's why I am keen to get out there and learn as much as I can over next couple of years so when I do make the jump I will have some experience, although it will be small to start looking at getting some starts with local companies I have even thought about going self employed after reading the slinky thread, travelling round is something I would definitely be willing to do
  6. Hello every one, I am new to the forum and looking at getting into the industry. First a bit abou t me: I used to be in the army where I served 9 years with the parachute regiment, then I got out to work in the security industry working in the Middle East, where I still am now. My plans is over the next 12 - 18 months is to get as many courses done as possible whilst I am back home on leave (I am currently on a 8 weeks abroad and 4 weeks in the UK rotation). I will be looking to do these courses if I can at Kirkley hall colledge in Northumberland with my home just being round the corner. After reading a load of posts before I have introduced myself I have wrote down a load of tips that I have got from older posts, so thank you for that. Just a few questions to the lads that are based in the north east area. is there many companies around the north east that will take lads on on a short term basis, as I am willing to work on my leave to gain as much experience as possible before I decide to leave the security industry Also some advice on courses, I am looking to complete the following CS 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 38 and 39, but ths is obviously over a period of a year to 18 months and also dependant on course availability, I am also currently IRATA L1 qualified, not to sure if ths has any compatibility with Arborist work. And 1 more question, it might seem a weird 1 when would it be the best time to look at starting to get not the arborist industry, would it be summer time, I am just trying to plan ahead and am wondering when you guys are at your busiest Thanks AC
