  1. Hi guys, been thinking about going self employed for a while now!! Just wonder if any of you cool kids have any advice for me like, savings before hand, accounts, work!! That kinda stuff. All advice will be taken on board. Kierran.
  2. Wow your a lucky guy!! It's like getting blood from a stone with my employer;) when they finally see your boots hanging off your feet they give you a shitty pair of big ass boots!! Kinda like the old diving boots lol. Hence why I buy my own gear.
  3. Kinda takes away the fun!!
  4. But it was me who Bought the equipment and me with the invoice!!!
  5. Hi guys, I've heard rumours about employed people being able to claim back there tax and vat each year for equipment Brought and fuel cost for travel to work!! Also pack lunch and stuff like that. Is this true?? And how would I go about this?? Or is it a load of doggy do?? Cheers. Kierran
  6. Yeah course bud, will keep you updated dude:)
  7. Cheers for the link, was perfect for what I'm after;) cheers
  8. Cheers guys;) I'm already dragging brash all day and have a basic Knowledge but was thinking of maybe upping my understanding of tree science and I figured a tree ident course/class would point me in the right direction!! It's one thing cutting a tree but understanding the tree and how it grows, when and how it can be cut is another:) Anyhow, thanks for the comments and I will start with a garden centre and a good tree book and take it from there.
  9. Looking to do a tree identification course. Anyone know where is good to go in the southwest area?? Cheers:)
  10. What I did when I started was google tree surgeons and your area!! Then write a letter stating what you can offer them! Like being a hard worker, very keen to learn. Then copy and paste to all company's in area. I received a handful of replies all not what I was hoping for!! But I didn't give in, I then saved for a few weeks and got my cs30. Then tried again, sent the same letter to the same company's with the extra course. It went a long way dude. I got 2 offers for work. I guess I shown willing, which went a long way. Also don't work for free!!! It is a very hard trade which will give you mental and physical damage on a day to day basis;) enjoy, relax and wait dude. It will all fall into place.
