Strange weather indeed!
Sat by a roaring log burner trying to keep warm in a cold wet and windy day in North Yorkshire.

Evening all, a long shot I know.
Does any body have an unwanted copy of, (or know where i might find a copy of) British Standard 5837 2012 (planting).
Hoping to find one for a fair bit less than the daft money being asked by the BSI Website for a new one.
Thanking you in advance.
Buck.

I had squirrels visiting my loft in a previous house with no trees within 200m.
-
Thanks,
Interesting that you mention shading, the affected branches are predominently on the north side of and within the crown.

Thanks chaps,
No sign of bleeding though I did not actually 'damage' it.
Is it a cause of, sign of or nothing to do with wider problems?
Cheers

The soil around the trees has to be removed until you can see the root flair. Then there is opportunity for air-spading the soil to de-compact it. Then a good mulch of hawthorn or cherry upto the trees but not touching them. Speak to your tree officer about it.
Why specifically hawthorn or cherry?

Yorkshire stile has evolved predominantly because of the 'scratty' state of the hedges that we have to work with in Yorkshire. 95% of what we lay is 'overipe' hawthorn, and its realy a case of doing your best with each pleach. Everything is cut very hard back in the hope of maximum re growth. The lack of Hazel etc up here has led to the take up of sawn timber.
This might be the best stile if you want to discourage people from pushing through your fresh layings.
Regards

Hi Hedgesparrow, If you are meaning a style with a sawn timber top rail forming the structure of the hedge (sort of half hedge, half fence), thats Yorkshire style.
Hope this helps.
Happy Christmas

Well as we are discussing tax, money is whats being discussed is it not can you pay your tax bill with quality time with your children or a happy marriage??[/quote
It was you who introduced the concept of 'success' to a discussion regarding government spending/ taxation. Personally I have never seen a column for 'success' on a tax return.
I have however known a couple of 'well off' people who enjoyed the 'high arts' who by their own admission would not have claimed to be succesful, just lucky.
Sorry if im sounding a bit grumpy. The dark nights are getting to me and I live 250 miles from the west end!!

Utter cobblers!!
They may pay a lower % than their cleaner, by incorporating, but in terms of real money they will pay far more than most.
This is the problem with so many in the country they believe the headlines they read without checking the back story.
How much VAT is their on a Range Rover Vogue , a lot more than the the tax paid by your average cleaner, income tax is not the only tax.
not be doing so well!!"
But come on, if your paying £8K per year in tax and they are paThe way many feel the need to find fault with those who succeed is really very sad I know why people do it, its an excuse for their own lack of success, they tell themselves that these others are only doing so well because the cheat the system, "if they payed proper tax like me, they would ying £50K, who's paying more tax??? OK £8K may be a 5th of your income and £50K may only be a 10th of their, but in real terms they are still putting more in the pot.
All depends on how an individual evaluates 'success', I thought that the idea of that particular concept being measured in £splashed around had died 15/20 years ago.

How much tax will the people in your average audience at the Opera pay?? How many people will their business employ?? How many privately educate their children and pay for private health care, while still paying NI , but hey lets not let them benefit in anyway from all the tax's they pay lets just keep giving more and more to the free loading spongers who spend their whole taking and never giving.
"How much tax will the people in your average audience at the Opera pay?"
Less than their cleaner!

OOps didnt recognise that as a place.
Clearly more than 20 miles away.

And told us 20 miles of where?

Government meeting today. (COBRA).
Lets hope that there might be some firm and effective guidance so that we can all do 'our bit' available by the end of the day.

Im not an expert on this stuff but i always think that 'smart water' lends itself particularly well to this industry.
Invite your local crime prevention officer round for a coffee.
