  1. hi all, theres a land at work, who comes in for work experience, twice a week, when not at college. He has got his cs30-and 31 assesment in the morning. However, he said for the cs30, they ask you for a bore cut to severe the wood, we just usually cut down move the log over and finnish it.

He reckons the trainer didnt cover bits, and wants to know if when carrying the bore cut, do you have to cut all the way to the ground and come back up, or can you leave a bit at the bottom, roll it over and finnish it of.

    Cheers

  2. hi all, on behalf of a friend, he has been offred a 3 day a week job as a groundy on books, he has just finnished college about 2 weeks ago, with some experience.

He is 20 but has been offred a minimum wage, plus training, kit, week sick and holliday pay and couple of other benifits.he already had cs30 and 31.

I thought it was ok, as ive been in the industry for about a year and get 60 a day.

What do other think of this offer

  3. if you own a wood, do you still need a felling license. if you do, how easy is it to obtain. The reason I ask, is because to be able to live in a wood permeantly eg static home/caravan, it must be for foresters.

I would have it on a 4-5 year coppice rotation, which is why I want to urchase around 5 acres, 1 acre per year.
