Where the hell is that 'Happy, joyful, world full of wonder..' thread, quick!
Its like that old fast show sketch with the artist; 'BLACK!! BLACKNESS EVERYWHERE!! #trashes easel off edge of beautiful forest waterfall, kicks pack-up into river# ARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!! THE BLACKNESS COMES!! #cut to old lady, scene left# 'Oh Johnny no!, stay away from the darkness!'
Times are pretty bad but lets just knuckle down and get on with it! The light at the end of the tunnel is only a train 2 times in 10!

Its that 1 second lapse in concentration in an 8 hour day that we all work against I guess. Glad your ok and cheers for 'keeping it real'

Same thing with the phantom brake on the stihl cut-off saw. Every. Single. Time.

Not so much fc plantation stuff but more native species? I reckon with our companies associated landscaping work we plant 5-10 times what I remove every year. (My personal favourite is a copper beech that I transplanted as a 3 inch seedling thats now 4 foot high and about to leaf, not that I check up on it or anything)
Just curious after reading another thread this evening and being struck once again with a feeling of impending doom for the tree care industry that we all love.

Dont know if you can see how many views your item on ebay has had but if there is a counter this daft (words that are not polite) is going to be getting all excited about his high hit-rate!

I dont know if you have a TM but it says on the instructions that the red rope parts are not to be used for the chainsaw and only the red ring at the very back should be used.
Personally i like the fact that these parts are weak and come apart so easily, it always worries me getting something caught up in a falling branch or something heavy and being pulled out the tree.
I think the TM is the best harness i have ever used and will buy another when needed. Just my personal oppinion:thumbup1:

Had a bit of a shock today i was dead wooding a large oak today and as i swang out to the next limb my chainsaw got stuck in a limb behind me i had the saw linked on the red rope part that is next to the red ring on the back of my harness it broke away and my saw fell to the ground splitting the tank open .
It makes sense that there is a break-away aspect to those attachments. Buy a carrytool and clip your saw up short when moving through the crown. Simples

Fencing in the sideways rain and mud and trying not to get bitten by an angsty horse. Great day.

A generic search engine kicked the name out while trolling the interweb for tree info. Great site, really is a mine of knowledge and expertise.

Seriously though...... was he trying to force it towards the camera and snapped his (too thin) hinge?

Two tarps, one for the hammock and one for the 'roof' and a length of rope. Fold the hammock tarp into a diamond shape and tie a big overhand knot at each of the ends of the longer points. Whip the line round one knot, then around a tree at head height. Take the line horizontally to the other stem, fix and attach to the other end of the hammock. Throw roof tarp over line and peg out. Boom-tich, boom-tich, boom-tich, boom-tich, boom-tich. Hmmm would show the boy racers round here a thing or two . Awesome bit of kit!

Ok, sorry if that reads a bit crappy but its the first thing that came to mind! Hopefully the OP can find some value in the wood

If you can bury it under a really big pile of stone for a few million years you could maybe get some decent jet out of it?

Do any of you ever use a winch to counterbalance a heavily leaning tree when rigging big bits out? Iv got a nasty pollarded Ash which has got quite a lean on it to dismantle in a few weeks, its sitting on nice soft peat so thinking of using this tecnique just to counterbalance any snatching on the lean.
Does this technique transfer the pulling force from the blocks rigging point into compression down the stem?
