lovely lovely lovely, It's what a lot of us would like to achieve, but few will ever get the chance. Congrats on your work, wouldn't have wanted to tackle it all on my own. i did a barn restoration for English Heritage a few years ago, some of those timbers must weigh quite a bit !

Hello everyone, Been lurking for a little while, realised that you know what you know what you’re talking about, so thought I’d join in the fun. I recently bought a Sachs 123 with a 24” bar (max 22.5” usable ?) intending to do some milling. I had to take an Oak down in my woods, and need some waney for cladding and there’s a nice curve to make a Cruck frame for the porch re-build I should be doing latter in the year. It’s just shy of 2 foot @ the widest part. I believe I can run a 30” bar on the Sachs, it seems in good order with plenty of compression, and I was thinking of using a 404 chain. I have 5 other smaller saws, so this Sachs can be dedicated to the mill. I don’t really want to spend the money on an Alaskan, so was thinking of the TCF Engineering Mill as an alternative. Anyone have any experience of this ? I’ve also got some Chestnut to plank latter, but don’t think anything will be over 24” wide, so don’t see the point in having anything bigger ? Any advice welcome
