I have the sling and I'm in it for six weeks. Have to loosen it off every now and again to prevent cramp.
Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
Hope you recover well,...take care of yourself.

Tbh it was probably the first time in my life I properly listened to consultants, Drs and physios, . The first 8 weeks post op it was strapped in a sling permanently to my chest, it is something I would never want to experience again, hence the listening . Got 90 odd % movement back .

I severed both tendons in one shoulder many years ago. one of the most painful experiences of my life. 8 months post op. no driving, over 12 months post op. before light duties.

You could try Wessex woodlands

They are all good straight stems but like i said not very big hes asking £2.50 a hoppus foot witch to me is to much
£2.50 at stump is more than he would get on the open market. Beech planking currently £55-58/t delivered, that equates to £2-£2.25 hoppus delivered.Ash slightly more. Summer felled Ash isn't every ones favourite.

£1 hoppus at stump .

Sorry to read this Eggs.
-
Elm I reckon.
-
Robert Tweddle is working sites in the area, may be worth a call.
-
Milling beech for UK market £57 delivered . ...but there is an export market and if someone has tapped into that £45 standing would be viable.
£1 a hoppus .for fell and extract..which would make it roughly £70 roadside .
That would leave an attractive margin for the export market.

Failing that you could ask on Forest machine operators blog ,,good chance someone on there may know ?
Have you tried Iain Wilson ?
-
The sawmill at Newick ( Turners) ? had one that was parked up a few years ago,..may be worth a call.

What size tree are they at 200 per day ? On 8 hours cutting that's a tree every 2 min mins, allowing for fuelling etc .
-
Looks more like an Atlas to me than hiab ,...3006 I reckon.

Eggs on his first day at school was WAY ahead of all the other 29 kids in the class, he could already do trigonometry, and algebra , and NEVER made a mistake! he was the height of perfection,
:001_rolleyes:
That's a bad comparison in this scenario,..bottom line is if the guy has been instructed to fell at that height he has been instructed badly.
-
I have to agree with the constructive criticism here,...getting your cuts right is by cutting at ground level. The best holding wood is at the bottom of a tree,..better chance of direction being accurate, wider gob with less chance of the tree breaking out or barrelling on the stump.

You could try Ian Hampshire , Medstead.

I felled through the disease in the 70s and 80s,. There was a licencing scheme in place for movement eventually. Diseased timber could be moved within counties that were deemed to have the disease with bark on .
November to March the bug was dormant and timber could be moved anywhere during these months .
The FC did police it to an extent and would check loads,..the merchant I worked for at the time had an inspection on several trailers loaded for delivery , the FC forester marked a load of Poplar suitable for movement,..thought it was Elm,..says it all .

One of the nicest and honest man in timber.
Agreed, I have sent many a load in on trust , unseen .priced off the lorry.
Not many you could do that with.
-
Have you checked it for worm hole ? You will struggle to get anyone to touch it if it is riddled with them,..its always a possibility that its present in logs that have been down any amount of time.
Dave Madgwick, Vastern Timber would be your man if the logs sound.

Hi how many tonnes have you calculated the area to ? And when you say pine is it Scotts , lodgepole , Corsican etc all have different values and end uses , so to give prices would be difficult . I got tonnage between 25000 and 45000 tonne a lot to fell by hand and a stroke processor .
Think your tonnage calculations are way out.
Species is of little consequence if you are contract harvesting in relation to roadside values of timber,...that's the merchants issue.
-
How will you turn it into the top one ? The top one has a square cornered cutter , the bottom one (semi) has a round one .
-
You could try Bridon, formerly British ropes. They will advise you on diameter etc,..but 19mm would be a minimum in wire.
-
FMOC provisional and assessment for tracked base machine will be around £300,
From what you have said it sounds like the cscs element has expired,to get blue card now which lists all the things you are covered for is a day in classroom and touchscreen test like the old cscs test.

Anything above chest height or extended arm has its limitations for me too. I don't think you ever get the muscle strength back , but learn to adapt to what you have. I cant throw a ball overhand , and as Stubby commented about light bulbs, I have similar problems.
I still get periods of neck pain where everything is pulling tight, it will be 15 years since I had mine repaired.
