  1. Its Chinese and he can take it back for replacement. I have the exact same model for 4 years, mine did brilliant!
  2. another pic
  3. But its not exactly on top of were the plug is and there is no damage to the plug!
  4. Hi, this damage has happened to my mates strimmer. Any ideas on the cause? Its relatively new and used it for about 3 times for 30 minutes each and failed to start by the end of the 3rd time? Thanks for help
  5. I'm learning lots now from your replies plus How to sharpen the chain How not to cut a tree stump- must keep it very straight or the chain will eat into the bar sideways When not in use, to set your saw down out of the road. I almost reversed over my cheap as s**t chainsaw with a trailer. Imagine it was a Stihl
  6. So it would be the same as a chainsaw low setting screw?
  7. So the carbs are different from chainsaws then? In what way?
  8. Is it better not to start with a cheap saw and work with it first to learn all mistakes on it than a good quality high priced saw?
  9. Its a Chinese model and fuel was left in it all winter. And yes, fresh petrol being used!
  10. Its a Chinese model.
  11. Does all brushcutters/strimmers like mine have only one carb adjustment screw? What is my one for?
  12. My chainsaw started easily after being out of action all winter. I done maybe 30 mins of work with it, then after 10 minutes of sitting i went to restart it and could not get it started. A few days later went to try it from cold and it started easy. Why did it not start again while warm??
  13. So if i maxed out the H screw (which I'd be mad too), then my saw would probably scream out load at 12000-13000rpm??
  14. Forgot to mention i would be using a tach!! Its a cheap Chinese one, yeah yeah, but it was dam dam cheap!!

    Exhaust

My mate bought a cheap saw, good enough for his garden. When its revved hard you can see that inside the exhaust manifold that it is glowing very brightly and thought this may be a concern. We removed the manifold and shined a touch inside it and could see a mesh in the middle from both ends. It all seemed OK. Checked online and saw some comments on cats. Could this be a catalytic converter?? If so then it should not be a safety concern then, if that's the way it manufactured. But a couple of times we seen a flame burst out of the exhaust while running hard. I suppose it must be set a little too rich?? What do you all think??
  16. So yous have mentioned before about setting for 4 stroking and by ear. But to give me a somewhat more of an idea, going by the book. Book states; Max power @ 8500 rpm Max RPM @ 10000 My initial thoughts were out of the cut on WOT to set at 8500 cause if i hit 10000 then my engine will over heat and die. But now i think that the engine will likely do as much as 12000 rpm. Is that correct?? So what i should do is gradually get to 10000 and set it at that, so that when my saw is cutting then it will be under load and cutting at 8500 at its best rpm for cutting. Is that a good simple guide for Dummies??
  17. The gearbox on hedge clippers and strimmer/brushcutter? Thanks!!
  18. Whats the correct grease to use for; Hedgeclippers Strimmer Would standard multigrease do, apart from Stihl grease as its so pricey?
  19. So what does it look like?
  20. Whats the gap size?
  21. How long should a chainsaw plug last and/or when do you know its time for changing?
  22. Thanks Marc, that's a good reply about your time at Stihl!! Ok, as you say some saws will be different, but when using the tachometer, should the revs be at the top limit as quoted by the manufacturer?
  23. So if your not doing big cuts all the time, then the above is not a good idea?
  24. So mix oil as standard and retune after about 15 - 20 hours?
  25. So what does 4 stroking sound like as oppossed to 2 stroke. I guess your taking about 4 stroke engine sound for a car?
