David is one of the few who still repair winches, never heard any bad about him. I would suggest changing solenoids and lube every few years a sort of winch service as often it will let you down when you most need it

I don't know the legality of it but some one I use runs two businesses, one Vat registered the other not so little non vat people like me don't pay vat you just get a different company name at the same address.

Some good safety advice and I would suggest a copy of you H&S policy insurance certs etc should be going out with quotes just to put the customer at ease and make your self look more professional. We all need to take time and be certain we comply for our own safety and the safety of others around us the last thing you need is an accident. Safety is a big part of my job and I have dealt with the HSE, they can often leave no stone unturned so its better and cheaper to be on the ball. One thing I will add, you must check the person doing any safety work for you is competent and holds any required qualifications as no doubt Biggles will tell you, keep a file on the safety person to prove that you have checked.

Well said. I had some one try this with me I just left and carried on, from memory it would have to be written in from day one and they would have to set up some sort of paid gardening leave. A supplier at work left his employer and went to another selling same stuff, so we just bought from him at his new employment, the thing people often miss is its all about the people you deal with so he may well wish to set up on his own and old customers may follow they may not thats the way of the world. Just sign it and do what he wants to do as the cost of taking him to court won't be worth any gain

Our son is very keen on Bonsai trees, he also is keen to grow proper trees as a hobby that may make a few quid, so any thoughts or would he just be wasting his time?

Thanks thats all some excellent points he can use, we had a look at some of the advertisers on the right of the page last night and its good to see one of his ideas is totally different to what they sell, now thats not saying its any good but it shows he is thinking.

I worked with a bloke who bought two pigs, got sawdust bedding from a pallet factory, slaughtered pigs had passed fit for human consumption but he was ill after eating it, so off to the lab who said were did you get this meat its full off PCP ( timber praservative) and not fit to eat. So as mentioned above contamination can be an issue you may not have even considered. The Briquettes is a good idea

Well we did have an idea of how to make a water proof bag with ventilation, again its idea as thats all he needs but it can be done
